But .. what about the DS/3DS? What about their killer apps? Could those, with ease, be ported to the Switch? What about games that almost entirely rely on the dual screen functionality? With the Wii U, the console never took off as a dual screen device, so it's games never took advantage of it. But with the DS and 3DS, there were games that in fact did. Does this mean that certain Nintendo games will not be able to be on the virtual console due to the unique designs of those consoles? Will Nintendo have to forget games from their history for the sake of simplicity? What way can you see DS and 3DS games coming to virtual console? Obviously a lot of these games would just require a slight adjustment - but there's certainly games that would require a lot of work, or would be nearly impossible on a VC. What do you guys think? How can we preserve DS and 3DS games on Switch VC? |
WiiU already showed how it is possible. The DS-VC on WiiU put the whole DS with both screens on the gamepad and read the inputs on the lower part. So that would be only be possible in handheld mode - which is fitting for DS/3DS-VC.
EDIT: This is Spirit Tracks on VC on WiiU:

All is happening on the gamepad.
