I want to rejoin the dumb phone side.

The has to be it. Like how "Beats" headphones aren't the best on the market but people who have them look down on people who don't. They just care about the brand and not the quality. |
It is a fashion statement. For people that aren't confident enough in their appearance or how they handle themselves in the real world to compensate and be like hey 2000 world look at me I have an ipod. I'm not a loser. Just look at any Apple commercial for the past 15+ years.
I'm on mac, so I went with Iphone to get the benefits of staying in the same eco system. They are also stable and reliable in my experience, last a long time and aren't prone to freezes or crashes.
I'm not really averse to android either though. *shrugs*

Then she posted a picture of "Android juice" and it was heavily pixelated! I mean, my phone has a sharper image than the latest iPhone and it's probably over a year old. My interface is customized to the point where even my app icons are whatever I want them to be. I can't imagine anything my phone can't do that the newest iPhone can. And, like iTunes, there's music I've purchased back in like 2009 that I've deleted and it's still right there, ready to download and be shared across any number of devices. I could copy to a PSP if I want to. I can send a text from my tablet and see the reply on my PC. I can control my phone's camera with my watch. It's cool if someone prefers a different brand but don't make up bs about my preferred brand! |
Haters gonna hate!
I have the same experiences but with iPhones. I don't even leave my iPhone open on the table when I'm away with people because I've had so many instances of people going "oh you got an iPhone. Why would anybody buy an iPhone?" Just recently an old classmate asked me something about Windows notebooks in the gym and I said I couldn't answer his question because I own a MacBook (I did not say "I'm not a Windows peasant! Away with you!"). He didn't stop talking to me about why MacBooks suck for half an hour while I was doing my training (I'm not even joking haha). Maybe this really is an american thing? No idea.
As for your question: I think Android and iOS are pretty much on par with each other. Each one has advantages and shortcomings and it's really not a big deal. Same goes for phone models, there's not a big difference anymore. But I guess it's really important for some people to have the tastiest apple juice.
Can’t really compare both because i’ve only used iOS from those three OSes (iOS, Android, WP). I went with iOS since iPhone OS 2 with iPod Touch 2G, then i’ve had iPhone 4, 5C and now 7 Plus. I only change the device when support ends so basically with iOS it’s 3 years.
Iphone make decent products that is intuitive and works fast thanks to an very well optimised OS and fast processors. Sadly that is the only real advantage iPhone has except for pressure sensitive touch on their screens.
They play catchup in most other respects. Only now are they getting wireless and fast charging. They have a dated design (something most Apple Faithfull used to use as their reason for purchase)
They lack customization in their OS. They cut out basic features such as an headphone jack. And in the new iPhone. A fast charger isn't even included. You need to buy that seperately. Very inexcusable when I phones are already considered by many to be overpriced. It uses proprietary expensive cables and accessories and is generally becoming a big Hassle to use if you wanna listen to music or charge your phone. Which is so odd to say as Apple built their brand on accessibility and ease of use..
A lot of new companies such as 1plus gives you so much value for your money. I personally prefer the galaxy series since they went with the curved screens. Before that I used Sony phones because of their water resistance. Speaking of. This is something apple also only recently got, and whereas most phones have been using ip68. Apple is only using the worse water resistance level of ip67.. Something that is even more confusing since et hey don't have a headphone jack to not get water into..
I have been selling phones for a living and I have spoken with a lot apple representatives. Apple is very good salesmen, but not very great at making phones.

I think iphone will lose a lot of customers this gen, they've been squeezing $$$ out of their customers way too long.

I have a OnePlus One and I'm quite happy with it, but smartphones suck too much attention for me to be really comfortable with it. I'm thinking of getting a normal feature phone and quitting the smartphone world. |
This. I don't give a shit if bluetooth is the "future" (I really hope it isn't); wired headphones are cheaper and of a better quality, so why would I buy more expensive headphones that are worse?
Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).
Android hands down. Live backgrounds, widgets, SD cards, headphone jack, Android OS, kernels mods, unlocked boot-loaders, custom ROMs, more features open ecosystem. Im on a 4 year old Nexus 6 running 7.1.2 which is what new phones are launching with.

I currently have a cheapo $30 Android and I hate the thing. It runs out of battery life in only three days. I keep getting idiotic notifications that can't be turned off in the settings. You can't make a phone call, and text in the same app, meaning you have to hang up or switch apps just to send a text. The screen is never bright enough to see outside unless I turn the brightness settings to max, but that drains the battery in about a day. Touch controls are horrible for texting when compared to a mini-keyboard. |
Try the blackberry priv. Tried it for a week and loved it. You can get it for about $200
