Did someone notice we haven´t heard something new of Resident Evil 5 since months now? I really hope the game turns out to be good as I´ll buy a PS3 sometimes this year.

Or maybe they are pulling a Monster Hunter...?

Didn't Famitsu have a video showing some work on the game last month?

They did, but there really wasn't anything in the video that hadn't been shown already in the trailer from last year.  As I posted on the last page (and I think it got ignored) it's certainly possible that Capcom is going in a different direction with RE5, they re-did RE4 4(!) times (showing 3 to the press) before settling on the version that ultimately was published.

... "You want the game just get another console" to this I say that some fans may not think that purchasing another console for just one game is worth the investment, and second because somehow thay do not want to "betray" their brand of choice. I know there must be some PS3 or 360 fans out there that want to playa Nintendo exclusive but do not think its worth the console purchase. Also I know there are PS3 and 360 fans that would get enrage if the next game of a previously exclusive franchise went to the Wii. Its natural.

...

The number one reason one great game or a few good games, or even a select few great games, will not "save" a console.

I really dislike these discussions. RE5 is going to the PS3/360. That's where Capcom placed their bets. With the showing of RE4 and RE:UC on the Wii though, it's obvious that there's demand for a real RE game, that could really sell bucketloads. If a remake can sell 1.25 million or so, and an on-rail shooter can sell >1 million, the former suffering from some not wanting to get it because they already played RE4 (though I guess the controls could make it worth it), and the latter suffering from being a less popular genre. So a real, built from scratch game has the potential to sell (I would imagine) upwards of 2 million dollars. If anyone thinks building a game ground up for the Wii wouldn't be worth it if the game only sold 2 million units, is not thinking straight, because few games will ever reach that sales level anyway. So if building a game for the Wii that could sell 2 million isn't worth it, then making any game for the PS3 isn't worth it at all, because the higher dev costs, combined with the lower sales (only 4 games have hit 2 million), would just not be worth it, if that's how you think.

Besides if Capcom was to do RE5 for Wii, it would be a better idea for them to do RE5 PS2.
Last I checked 120 Millions > 23 millions...

So basically you guys are just asking for RE5 to be a pale copy of RE4 and not show any technical advancement over the last game in the serie...

If there wasn't "any technical advancement over the last game" then I could see why they would just make it for the PS2... except that there is room for technical advancement, so it's not like the game could be built on the Wii and then run on the PS2, unless they scaled it down a lot.

Great news. This should ensure Capcom starts to put best teams on Wii.

RE5 is not going Wii, ever. However, RE6 and everything in between will. :)

You just had to mention RE5 didn't you?

Look, the facts are that the game could be ported to the Wii. It would be much harder than porting between the 360 and PS3, since they'd have to redo a lot of stuff like some/most of the textures etc, but significantly cheaper than building a game from ground up, because they could still use all the voice acting and other sound effects, level design etc. We simply can't know what Capcom are planning, so let's just wait and see.

There is more of a chance of RE5 coming to Wii than there is GTA IV.

This is because Capcom has shown a desire to put RE on the Wii. Meanwhile, GTA has is going to go multi-platform for the first time since GTA 2 (which I have for my DC).

Still, I do not think there will be an RE5 for the Wii because it can't be the same game. I love my Wii, but there are some things it does not do that a PS3 or Xbox 360 can.

What I think there will be is a new RE game for Wii only. Capcom knows what sells, knows it call sell on Wii, and likes money.

As far as people wanting games for other systems, that is universal and goes all ways and has been around forever. Same thing with accusations of good vs. gimped versions of games (And if you think it is bad today, think of a console-maker acting as a third-party for the competition and putting out a seemingly inferior product. That was the classic era (see Donkey Kong by Coleco on Colecovision vs. Atari 2600 and Intellivision).

Personally, I would love to play Viva Pinata but I don't have a 360 and won't pay $40 for a PC version of a $20 console game. Meanwhile, Microsoft is working on its own motion controller and avatar system. So what goes around comes around.

But I don't think RE5 will come around to Wii. Instead, it will be a different RE game in 2009.

Re5 for Wii IMO is not the best idea . It would be ripped-off compared to the PS3/360 game . Why not build an entirely new , RE4 like game for the Wii . Imagine how many stuff they could implement with the Wiis control scheme ;)

Ugh.

This game is grossly overtracked. It had only shipped 1.15M at the end of 2007; substantially less than VGC claims it had sold at the time.

I wonder why people are ignoring this post.

And. Why is this surprising? Wii sequels should pass every GC orignial/prequel. The Wii is entirely a new beast, and it will be a big accomplishment if it passes the PS2 version.

Why do Wii owners always want every game to come to Nintendo's console?

Can't we let the 360 and PS3 have some games? If you want to play RE5, go buy another friggin' console.

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

Id rather have a exclusive RE than a gimped port.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Let's see, maybe because Nintendo fans have always been left behind in the past two generations as far as3rd party support goes? For crying out loud, RE5 on the Wii is a smart economical move on Capcoms part whether you like it or not. If you don't like it, shove off. Not to mention this whole "a new game better than a port" thing. For F's sake, this IS a NEW game. You name a would be wii version a port, you might as well say the same thing for the ps3 and xbox360 version. And even better, why even have only one new game when you just might get two? RE5 wii and a new RE for the Wii? People sometimes really don't even grasp the simplest of solutions.

Oh Rocketpig, maybe all this just because we want to rub it in on all the PS fanboys who deny Nintendo(or any other company for that matter) any right to the more successful  series of the past years.

Really now, gamers nowadays have turned out to be real pancies all of a sudden. In the NES and SNES days people didn't have this whole "my console and games holier than thou" attitude. A sign of the times i suppose.
