Forums - Nintendo - In terms of Indies, Nintendo's support is best this year

Like everything I just quoted. A few indies (out of hundreds released this year) become successful on Switch and suddenly it's the best place for indie games, where all/most of said games RUN as well or better, the library has/will have more good ones than anywhere else, and there's no reason to buy an indie game on any other platform. It's absurd.

You quoted me, and I said none of these things. I actually said some indies, and I'm fully aware that others are not.

But you also fail to notice the significance. It is an actual saying, that only Nintendo games sell on Nintendo consoles. Or differently turned: Nintendo users don't buy games. I pointed towards that by turning it into a joke with PS4 replacing NIntendo. You seemingly didn't got it. Indies are games practically no one buys a console for. So indies usually (and I emphasize usually) do best on platforms with better userbase, as more people are exposed to it. If a user owns multiple platforms, he often choose the platform with the best version of the game or the most convenient one. But now not one, but multiple indie games, sell best on a platform with userbase still small. Sure, that still means most games sell best on PC. But the base is still growing, and it is Nintendo which usually is bad news for sales of third-parties. Obviously something changed, You fail to notice that and instead hallucinate something into my post that never were in it. Do you really feel entitled accusing others to spew nonsense? You might want to tread more carefully if you wanna avoid looking like a fool.

Obviously not everyone I quoted said all of those things, you were part of that post for saying (even jokingly) that "Playstation gamers don't buy games, ... at least not as much as Switch-owners" when the current attach rates say otherwise. I don't see how it's foolish to call out inaccuracies...

I hate comments like this. It assumes somehow, people buy games they don't like if they don't have anything else. Not buying any game at all (besides the game you bought the system for in the first place) is indeed a viable option, if the library does not offer anything good. A better libraty usually results in each customer buying more games than he would on a system with worse library.

And if the argument would make sense, why games didn't sold that much on WiiU or Vita?

Besides, it's not only indies, also japanese games sell well.

If you remember, indies flocked to the Vita too and several devs came out and said that games were selling well on it.

Well then, what about WiiU? If your theory about less competition is true, WiiU should've seen similar success.

The former is at least partly grounded in truth (even on the Switch 72% of all game sales are from just 4 Nintendo titles), when it's not being exaggerated it can be a source of interesting discussion. The latter is just silly though, and I've never worked out where it stems from. We even have a tie ratio page on VGC that shows its flatly false.

Yeah,  I assumed this is so obviously wrong so that everyone can see it's a joke. *sigh* I need to mark humor.

Yeah, because the first one is founded in truth, these news are sinething important. That Nintendos games are the best selling so far on Switch is less surprising if they are the current AAA-titles. We'll see how that develops if Dragon Quest, Skyrim, Doom and FIFA are out.

And you have seen me attack them too. I call it out when I deem it necessary. We became friends when I called it out on Sony's front iirc, so don't paint me in a picture like that. Instead paint me like one of your French girls

I don't paint you in a negative way, I don't remember you being like one of those hyperbolic people at all and I don't think you are a hater or anything like that, I'm just saying is not something exclusive to one fanbase and personally, I don't see how this is such an hyperbole because he is not saying switch is the best place for indies period, he says is becoming the best place, and for all we know that could be true, its very compelling for that kind of games and is getting a lot of them fast, including some cool exclusives like Golf Story, so I don't think the OP is being so irrational for you to make such a statement, but that's all, I mean is no big deal I just don't get why you said that because I'm just not seeing anything extraordinary happening here.

I think my position is probably the correct one. Since the title even had to be updated
