There's still a lot of compression on those youtube pics, look closer.
Youtube footage is always going to be of limited use as far as comparisons go because of how heavy the compression is.
Games almost always look better on your TV (or on the Switch's screen) than on youtube.

That's what you get for paying more money on a gaming PC: way better performance and that's why PC is considered the superior gaming platform. With Switch multiplats it's the exact opposite. You pay more (not only for the console, but also the games) for a very significant downgrade. |
You can't take Doom on PS4/Xbone with you on the bus though. For many people, being able to play a AAA PS4/Xbone multiplat on the go is worth the graphical downgrade.

Like I said. Reduction to resolution which results in a soft image and a downgrade in texturing.
It's like someone smeared vaseline over the screen. :P

I think that looks fine ... I mean it's a freaking PS4/XB1 tier game running on a device that is battery powered and can fit into a normal size pocket (Joycon less).
That's a great result from what was shown. Yeah of course it's not going to look exact, but that is reasonably close. If they have Splatoon style aiming options, I'm in.
I'm definitely getting Doom for Switch since I didn't play it yet and much to engrossed in Destiny 2 on my PS4 atm, but still going to get Wolfenstein on my PS4 Pro...since I rather not waste that console purchase...
With the size the screen is of the Switch, along with me not being that "OMG" about graphics (bought the Destiny 2 PS4 Pro due to a malfunctioning Destiny 1 PS4). I think the graphics are solid enough of what we seen (if that is of the Switch version)
DOOM might actually be the reason for me to purchase a Switch. There's just something about playing such a classic over the top shooter on the go. Really cool!
What I find funny is that people are still trying to downplay this. I mean DOOM is only a year old and is a AAA current gen game. Wolfenstein is not even released yet, and the Switch can handle it. This pretty much proves that the Switch can run current gen games with a few minor hits to visuals that you likely will not notice while playing unless you are compare them side by side.
The PS4 and X1 version will always look better, but Switch can be played on the go or on the TV. It is a fair trade off. People are so bent on trying to downplay anything Nintendo though that they fail to see the main point at hand...THAT THE SWITCH CAN RUN THESE GAMES IN THE FIRST PLACE.
Oh well, haters gonna hate. I skipped DOOM for PS4, so I will be getting both on Switch. Portability is more important to me.

It only proves that Switch can handle 60FPS AAA games from the HD twins so far ... (Not only do the PS4/X1 versions look better but they run at a higher framerate. 30FPS vs 60FPS)
Not to say Switch can't handle 30FPS AAA games from home consoles either since devs could just cut some game logic but at that point can you really say that you are getting the same game when content, level design and the mechanics are different ? (FIFA 18 on Switch vs PS4/X1 ?)

There are people who don't care though, and without a 24/7 constant comparison while playing, most will be too focused on gameplay to be thinking about the visual difference. Also playing where ever on a handheld is more than a good trade off to a lot of people. I'm just impressed it's running in the first place, and to me personally at least the downgrade seems pretty good, it's a lot better looking than some 360/PS3 games on Wii.
