Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Direct with 45 minutes focused on Switch and 3ds announced for September 13

SSB 4 DX.

this is so exciting! truly! such a big direct needs a big surprise!

Switch!!!

Unexpected predictions:

I think there is potential for Super Smash Brothers and Mario Maker teases or announcements. (This depends on how many games they know about that are planned for next year.) If we do see teases for them or surprise release announcements then that will show that Nintendo knows of a lot of game movement for 2018 coming from other companies or movement of 3DS to Switch titles to fill the gap next year. Either way, it would be a good sign. Otherwise they would save these for 2018 exclusively.

Most likely if Smash, then could be the show's 2018 tease, and if Mario Maker, a surprise Fall 2017 release announcement (They are likely not eager to destroy the Mario Maker community and eager to move the Mario Maker Wii U creation servers and fanbase over to the Switch).

They could also pull the string a bit more for Metroid Prime to build hype as they did for Zelda Botw for a couple of years: To show guaranteed 1st party epic experiences coming after this year. This hype will also encourage sales of the 3DS title to wet the appetite (Pokemon Switch is doubtful because of Sun and Moon Ultra)

Very small chance (15%) they will show added functionality for Switch that could initiate a new phase of play, such as VR, potential for component upgrade, or other attachments (Depends on the validity and threat of PS4 portable rumors and plans for the upcoming few years.) More likely reveal of a portable dock solution or other ease of use attachments, even if 3rd party, generated from how people have been trying to use Switch since launch.

App announcement. I highly think there will be Netflix and Youtube apps available before or near after Christmas. just knowing that they are coming will increase some hype going into the holidays. When they launch them will depend on if they want to keep this first holiday about games or not. My vote is for just after Christmas launch.

System update - Menu GUI improvements coming very soon. With the huge indie flood and popularity of digital media on the eshop, many people already have way more titles than can fit on the base menu. Expect some sort of customization/organization option that fits into the menu style.

Decent chance of chat function revamp solution on Switch due to low usage numbers and poor reception.

5% chance of online service and VC update. This will likely hold off until February of this next year.

I'm hoping for a nice surprise, come on Nintendo!

What level of surprise we talking? Seeing Robobot, seeing Cloud, seeing Valentia....

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

Btw, I think the extra five minutes in the Japanese direct is for Mario X rabbids, since the game hasn't come out there yet, and is slated for 2018.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Have we heard about the supposed Smash leak???
Some YouTubers who did a little snooping seem to think a Smash 4 port was leaked by a Nintendo themselves...

Have a nice day...

Mushroom Souls, Mario slays its way through the Mushroom Rabbids Kingdom.

I'd prefer Zelda.

Why did I go for Mario...? Hyrule Souls.
Works much better, thematically and even name wise.
