It's looking increasingly necessary. They have made it quite clear what they would do if they had the power. Now it looks like they're close to being able to nuke the US mainland. They will try to extort money from the US and its allies under threat of nuclear war. If anyone gives in, it will make matters worse.

How do you know North Korea isn't looking for a way to bypass security measures?

I dont think North Korea knows about all of our resources we have  to stop their missiles.

He threatened people so much with it that everyone knows he's not going to use it. Attacking NK on the pretense that he's gonna use it so we have to attack him first is laughable. If WW3 starts and billions of people die because we attacked a country because it's leader who has a long history of bluffing, that's far worse than the second Iraq war. If we're gonna potentially kill millions, I'd rather be in the right or have legit excuse for it.

We are all about saving the struggling people of N.Korea with sanction after sanction, the N.Koreans resist a super power with the only tool they have (they feel threatened), so to win this we will nuke the country and kill millions to free their charred corpses from oppression, sounds about right

Maybe tone down the Rhetoric, and be patient, no one, not even the Narcissistic leader of N.Korea wants to risk the sterilisation of all Human habitat in his country, the US needs stop the threats if they want to feel safer

And what makes you certain that they will indeed commit suicide in this way, and that it will happen soon enough that we will not be able to develop countermeasures (at least for further-out targets)?

He has a ready and working hydrogen bomb, which is a legitamate threat.

It's not a threat if it's not gonna be used. Someone having a weapon is not good enough reason to take them down. It's their willingness to use it in the wrong way that makes a weapon a threat to us. He's shown over and over again that he's a boy that cries wolf.

Aeolus, we disagree on a lot of stuff, but I'm happy to see we are on the same side—or on similar sides—of an issue like this with the worst potential consequences for civilization out of any I can think of. (Outside of "asteroids fall, everybody dies".)
