Forums - Nintendo - Anger Mounting Over SNES Classic Pre-Orders

To be fair, Nintendo doesn't have many excuses this time around. From the NES Classic, Nintendo knows full well this was going to be a high selling item, and there should be no shortage of components. I think honestly this could outsell every "regular" system this holiday if Nintendo actually supplied it.

In this case I do think Nintendo is purposely under supplying a product to create a frenzy. NES + SNES era Nintendo is the greatest, they know full well by now people want this.

Lol. I remember when I wanted to write an in-depth breakdown on the reviewing process and how people were overreacting with Jim's Hellblade review score.

That being said, what's always stopped me from liking his content is that it's all the same. His job is basically to point out bad industry practices but at some point it just becomes too easy to spot. The videos are just repetitive. But ... he IS RIGHT.

I don't understand why Nintendo would want scalpers? They wouldn't make more money off making the thing limited and having people increase the price on Ebay right? Because the money only goes between Ebay and the seller .... so the price doesn't effect Nintendo positively. It's so confusing, I don't get it.

The other crappy thing is Virtual Console on Switch is likely not happening any time soon because Nintendo is making a good deal of money from NES/SNES Classic. N64 Classic is pretty much assured for next holiday and I assume a Game Boy Classic will happen at some point too. I mean, NES Classic could be reintroduced this holiday and sell out too.

I'm pretty much done trusting Nintendo at this point when it comes to their console promises. After the stupidity with the NES classic they even said that the SNES classic wouldn't have the same kind of supply issues, and yet here we are again. I don't really care anymore at this point, if Nintendo won't bother to produce enough of them to meet demand, then I'm not going to bother even trying to get one.

The fact that the only way to get an SNES classic is to preorder one within the ridiculously small window that the system is available is an absolute travesty on Nintendo's part. Preorder culture is already stupid, with things like preorder exclusive content and other bonuses, but this is taking it way too far.

As someone who managed to snag a pre-order, I feel like this is a "survival of the fittest" kind of scenario.

Only reason I was able to snag one is cause I'm just a nerd who watches MHA till like 2am, and occasionally checks Twitter for these sort of thing, and I just happened to be there at the right time.

Are you a busy full time person who only has time to play video games for a couple hours a week, but want a convenient way of playing some of your childhood classics? Too bad.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Well, let´s not buy this piece of garbage then.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I got my pre-order in very easily, never even looked all that hard for it, I just saw a thread at Neogaf that they were available in a local store in my country.

Get over it.

As many have stated(including Jim Sterling himself), these overpriced ROM plug-n-plays exist only to have the name Nintendo in peoples mouths. They don't intend to please their consumers with these hunks of cheap plastic, they want us talking about them and more importantly - talking about Nintendo Switch and 2DSXL.

Of course Nintendo could win the holiday with an expensive joke of an emulator, but that's not why they exist. Why please your consumer when you can tease them with this tat and manipulate them into considering a Switch while you continue teasing a Virtual Console service that you can later charge 5-10 quid per ROM for later?
