Portability, duh.

I hope FIFA flops on Switch, no one should want EA games.

Well we will see how much cares about this "Portability"

wait are you seriously saying you don't think FIFA Switch is going to sell a lot? especially in Europe? you are aware that there has never really been a handheld FIFA similar to home console level before right?

And if anything in Europe the population is pretty mobile (bike riding, walking). I would not be surprised if when all is said and done Fifa Switch does like 1 million sales in Europe (lifetime), as the install base grows for the Switch FIFA is going to be a popular buy

This things needs to be bundled with switch on Europe.

It's FIFA, of course it'll sell well. I guess the Switch can look forward to a (not-so) healthy dose of EA Sports games in the future...

FIFA 15 PSV 2014 Sports Electronic Arts 0.09 0.37 0.06 0.13 0.65
FIFA Soccer PSV 2012 Sports Electronic Arts 0.16 0.33 0.02 0.08 0.59
FIFA Soccer 13 PSV 2012 Action Electronic Arts 0.00 0.28 0.05 0.11 0.44
FIFA 14 PSV 2013 Sports Electronic Arts 0.08 0.23 0.01 0.09 0.41
FIFA Soccer 13 WiiU 2012 Action Electronic Arts 0.18 0.27 0.00 0.04 0.48

Let's not take FIFA sales for granted.

To be honest, the fact that it abled to manage these sales on what are essentially two of the worst selling video game systems in the 21st century, actually impresses me a little.

I mean Switch will be a much more successful system than any of these systems ever would of been, so with the much increased install base, it certainly gives me more hope for Fifa 18 on Switch than I did have intially.

It impresses you that FIFA managed to sell less than half a million on these platforms when it sells a combined 15 million on PS4 and Xbox One annually? FIFA 14 sold over 4 million on PS4 and XBox One in 2013 when the install base was far less than the Vita or Wii U. FIFA tends on only sell well on Playstation and Xbox home consoles, and nothing else.

that's actually fairly promising as the odds are Fifa Switch does extremely well. This would be the first big Fifa game on a handheld, essentially, that looks almost on par to the home console versions.

It'll probably sell like crazy in Europe

the real question is if EA keeps their word. As FIFA 18 is obviously going to push a lot of units over the Fall. Like someone else mentioned, hopefully they don't pull a Capcom and do test after test despite sales of their initial games going well beyond expectations

That's what I fear. I'm tired of this wait and see approach, especially after one game that is considered a smash hit on the Switch. Against all odds, USFII sold relatively well for a $40 game that had little to no business being a $40 of an enhanced port of a game that is over 20 years old. Its a great game, sure, but a 20+ year old game at that will only a few new features. Why make MHXX another test run, especially if you're not even going to localize the damn game while prioritizing localization to MHWorld which won't even launch until next year! Some of these decisions and explanations baffles me.

So if FIFA 18 does sell well on the Switch, will Switch owners get more support? Or will they continued to be trickled with a couple games here and there to be continuous test subjects? I'll probably pick this game up later down the road, but I can't stand such thing when third party companies are still going to make "tests" out of these games that aren't either new or either full with the content similar to their counterparts. Its like you're setting the game up to fail. It's like Mass Effect 3 when the whole damn trilogy was released on other consoles within that time span.

I didn't say anything about sales being on par with PS4/XBO. Merely at the higher end of expectations which would satisfy the continuation of Switch versions. It doesn't have to sell 15 million to be a success. Look at the Vita, the titles sold on average only 500k yet they continued to make 4 Fifa games for that system. Clearly when you look at the big picture it's not on the same power, but you sound as if it has to be, when it doesn't, as well grouping the Switch with the likes of the Wii U and PS Vita. Yes it's a non Xbox/Playstation platform which will mean the sales won't be in the 10 millions or anything, but it doesn't mean it will barely achieve 500k.

1-2 million on Switch is more than enough to be a worthwhile success to the franchise. It's enough to be considered impressive and be called selling well. It's enough for EA to invest more into the Switch, if they don't want to miss out on as much sales as possible.

I feel less threatened by this low-key threat than when Capcom played it.

Maybe you should look at the Vita games themselves. As far as I know, all of the Vita games beyond the original "FIFA Soccer" were literally roster and kit updates. Nothing more.  That's literally the work of 4-5 people for a 6-8 weeks max. That's all of the investment they decided that platform was worth.

The Switch is going to need to see more than 1 million in sales if EA is going to port other franchises besides maybe Madden. They tend to put those two games on pretty much anything at least once to see what sticks.

EA make nothing I'm interested in aside from BattleField so I can't say I would miss any of their titles on the switch.

Well they would first need to make Frostbite 3 compatible with Switch. Otherwise it won't get any of their new and past games.
