Forums - Website Topics - Proposal: Get political threads off the front page

I agree with the sentiment. Namely since I know user or two stopped coming here because of politics threads being the main highlight at times.

That's the thing, politics thread are popular because they users enjoy them, not only because they are on the front page. So I find this constant whining to be disgustingly selfish.

I hardly see anybody enjoying political threads.

Actions speak louder than words. Political threads are among the most disccused and most viewed topics on vgchartz.

I've made this thread twice and have tried to make something else become popular on vgchartz :/

Both art and original music never carried on. It'd be nice if something else got traction on here

It may be popular, but is it hurting the website more than it helps?

If they won't ban politics, then at least restricting certain conversations wouldn't hurt. A new user doesn't want to see a left vs right war with 20 bans in one thread

I think some people here have mistaken my intentions. I'm perfectly fine with the political threads on the front page, but I know that many aren't, so I'm willing to lose a little convenience for the sake of others.

Like the socialist you are. You will grow up, one day.

Tell those snowflakes to browse the forums using the gamrconnect domain, that way they can filter out waht they don't like.

This is something I'm all for , and as Ryuu has said, it's been discussed between the mod team a few times, and I think it's safe to say we all agree that removing political posts from the front page... however, we don't actually have the power to do so, and I know Ryuu has been pestering Trucks and Machina about it, along with other ideas for improvement too, so hopefully we'll hear something back from that.

"Safe to say we all agree". I am sorry, but mods don't represent the community, that's not their job.

Yeah it would be nice if topic activity was more spread out across the site, I have two relatively dead TV Show OT's as well (One way more than the other) but I think it's a good thing having the threads there, even if they're low activity for any possible new sign ups who are interested in XXX Thread.

It'd be good if we had Thread Pinning on the Buddy and all new sign ups have by default the Mod, Tutorial and Official Topic List Thread Pinned (Remove after) to promote them.

Forget new sign ups, I`m sure there`s plenty of existing users that would be interested in a XXX thread!

Eh, you want general, movies, and music related topics to stay on the front page because you like them, and you want the politics discussion to disappear from the front page to disappear because you don't enjoy them.

That's my problem with these types of threads, you guys selectively want to exclude topics you don't like, justifying it by "vgchartz is a gaming forumzzz". If that was the case, then you shoud vouch for excluding all non-gaming related topics from the front page.

Anyway, Trucks should spend that supporters' gold to implement the bolded feature request and everyon we'll be happy.

Screw Music Jk.

Politics also tends to be way more negative focused than other topics too and I think that's partly what annoys some people but yeah it is bias and slightly hypocritical on my part to say Politics should go and General/Movies should stay so I'd fully agree with just strictly making the front page Gaming Topics only.

No football threads, no Game of thrones discussions, no music discussion, who wants to discuss movies as well?

Only neogaf duplicates are allowed!

Shut up, you vocal minority.

Paint yourself orange, put on a horrible wig and you will have an amazing Trump impersonation.

A horrible start to a discussion, a thread, and a concept - but a hell of an impression. Specially consider the good chance YOU are the minority in wanting political threads on the front of a video game website.

Infact I'm fairly sure in any topic or poll that has discussed it - the "keep them" option has been near dead last.

If I was the minority, political threads wouldn't have been among the most viewed and the most discussed topics on vgc. But let's ignore those numbers and go by the unrepresentative polls that you are "fairly sure" about.

It's called a vocal minority for a reason, you guys make a lot of noise and want to impose your wishes ignoring the simple bolded fact.

Good, filter out the faint-hearted users

And no, how is it hurting the website? popular topics = more views = more clicks = more ads = more money for vgc.

I guess it's just that there's users on this site I like that I know are turned-off by it, and I don't want them to leave

There are people who you like you who are turned off by pretty much everything.

If somebody has been threatening to leave over something for two years and they still haven't, what's different now?  Even if thy leave now, they're just the boy who cried wolf.

Anyways, pretty much all of the mods are fine with removing politics from the front page. But we don't have access to make that change ourselves. Personally, I navigate directly to the forums page when I visit VGChartz.

Hmm, possibly. Am I letting my emotions get to me? Maybe so.
