I agree with the sentiment. Namely since I know user or two stopped coming here because of politics threads being the main highlight at times.

I hardly see anybody enjoying political threads. |
Actions speak louder than words. Political threads are among the most disccused and most viewed topics on vgchartz.

That's the thing, politics thread are popular because they users enjoy them, not only because they are on the front page. So I find this constant whining to be disgustingly selfish. |
It may be popular, but is it hurting the website more than it helps?
If they won't ban politics, then at least restricting certain conversations wouldn't hurt. A new user doesn't want to see a left vs right war with 20 bans in one thread

Like the socialist you are. You will grow up, one day.

Tell those snowflakes to browse the forums using the gamrconnect domain, that way they can filter out waht they don't like.

"Safe to say we all agree". I am sorry, but mods don't represent the community, that's not their job.

Forget new sign ups, I`m sure there`s plenty of existing users that would be interested in a XXX thread! |

Screw Music Politics also tends to be way more negative focused than other topics too and I think that's partly what annoys some people but yeah it is bias and slightly hypocritical on my part to say Politics should go and General/Movies should stay so I'd fully agree with just strictly making the front page Gaming Topics only. |
No football threads, no Game of thrones discussions, no music discussion, who wants to discuss movies as well?
Only neogaf duplicates are allowed!

Paint yourself orange, put on a horrible wig and you will have an amazing Trump impersonation. A horrible start to a discussion, a thread, and a concept - but a hell of an impression. Specially consider the good chance YOU are the minority in wanting political threads on the front of a video game website. Infact I'm fairly sure in any topic or poll that has discussed it - the "keep them" option has been near dead last. |
If I was the minority, political threads wouldn't have been among the most viewed and the most discussed topics on vgc. But let's ignore those numbers and go by the unrepresentative polls that you are "fairly sure" about.
It's called a vocal minority for a reason, you guys make a lot of noise and want to impose your wishes ignoring the simple bolded fact.

Good, filter out the faint-hearted users
And no, how is it hurting the website? popular topics = more views = more clicks = more ads = more money for vgc.

There are people who you like you who are turned off by pretty much everything. If somebody has been threatening to leave over something for two years and they still haven't, what's different now? Even if thy leave now, they're just the boy who cried wolf. Anyways, pretty much all of the mods are fine with removing politics from the front page. But we don't have access to make that change ourselves. Personally, I navigate directly to the forums page when I visit VGChartz. |
Hmm, possibly. Am I letting my emotions get to me? Maybe so.
