as long as it requires that they sign in with XBL it wont happen. and while i am all for cross platform play, i really understand sony not wanting to do it if it requires XBL sign in.

Its Microsoft's game, if Sony dont want to sign up to Xboxs eco system to play a Microsoft game than Sony might aswell lose the IP and upset there player base.

"For The Players"

Cmon Sony!

Pocky Lover Boy!

"Microsoft want to work with Sony to eliminate their selling advantage of marketshare."

For consumers it'd be great, for business Microsoft have Sony backed into a corner and they know it.

Open the doors for cross-platform between consoles, people no longer have to buy a ps4 because their friends have a ps4 (the most likely as best selling console.) Don't open the door for cross-platform and Microsoft can use it as PR ammo. It used to be microsoft against cross-platform, now the tides have turned.

If players can play with their friends who own a PS4 on XBO, that is an advantage firmly in Microsofts favour.

If MS reskinned XBL and called it Windows-Live or Minecraft-Live would that make everything OK?

Sony should just get on with it and allow it. Stop with the silly politics as it only harms Gamers.

Like any company, Sony thinks about their business first. Honestly it is this simple: allowing cross platform play means that X1 users get access to a larger user pool. Of course this works both ways but which console is the one at 60 million, and which is the one at half of that? This cross platform play benefits MS and the X1 way more than it does the PS4.

Likewise, with the PS4 being so far in the head, its a de facto choice for new users when it comes multiplayer games, a modern driving force for console buying. Pair this up with all the marketting deals that Sony has, its obvious that if you want to buy a console that has a larger potential demographic for a specific game (such as Destiny 2, BattleFront 2, CoD), that PS4 is the safer bet. Likewise, there is a good chance that new users will be convinced by their friends to get the same console they have: again with there being more PS4s sold that means that you possibly see more ppl going to reccomend the PS4.

Once you give cross platform play, there is no reason to have to buy a PS4 unless you want the exclusives. Reality is that most ppl just want to play the big 3rd party games which are multiplatform. So, how does this benefit Sony from a business perspective? It doesnt. It makes the X1 a more viable console and the PS4 less so. Right now, the PS4 is far more lucrative a purchase by the sheer fact that it has more ppl and possibly higher numbers for MP games. possibly.

Yeah, that is very likely the real reason, not the bull about keeping a safe platform and all this.

All for better customer practices right?

It's funny to watch you all defend Sony's arrogance in the name of 'consumer protection'.

Bottom line is if you want cross-platform play on a Microsoft published game, it makes sense for to have to use the XBL login. No one forces you to participate - it's just a convenient option.

As atrocious as that sounds, consider: if EA, Activision, or other publisher were to provide cross-platform support - they would have you do it through their account system, right?

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

It's no worse that Microsoft fans defending Microsoft's Xbox bullshit marketing.

Sony should just agree to it.

Honestly, I think sony should have just gone along with the cross platform thing. 1st with MC and now Rocket League. It kinda just makes them look like the bad guy here.
