Sony should just get on with it and allow it. Stop with the silly politics as it only harms Gamers.

Like any company, Sony thinks about their business first. Honestly it is this simple: allowing cross platform play means that X1 users get access to a larger user pool. Of course this works both ways but which console is the one at 60 million, and which is the one at half of that? This cross platform play benefits MS and the X1 way more than it does the PS4.

Likewise, with the PS4 being so far in the head, its a de facto choice for new users when it comes multiplayer games, a modern driving force for console buying. Pair this up with all the marketting deals that Sony has, its obvious that if you want to buy a console that has a larger potential demographic for a specific game (such as Destiny 2, BattleFront 2, CoD), that PS4 is the safer bet. Likewise, there is a good chance that new users will be convinced by their friends to get the same console they have: again with there being more PS4s sold that means that you possibly see more ppl going to reccomend the PS4.

Once you give cross platform play, there is no reason to have to buy a PS4 unless you want the exclusives. Reality is that most ppl just want to play the big 3rd party games which are multiplatform. So, how does this benefit Sony from a business perspective? It doesnt. It makes the X1 a more viable console and the PS4 less so. Right now, the PS4 is far more lucrative a purchase by the sheer fact that it has more ppl and possibly higher numbers for MP games. possibly.

Yeah, that is very likely the real reason, not the bull about keeping a safe platform and all this.
