Fantasy Jumprope: Week 11
MY DIVISION CHAMPION HOPES AREN'T DEAD YET
jk they rely on SCAB winning a game I'm booking my tickets to the first round.
Biggest Blowout: Arch 157.04, Lousy Pack 100.74
Despite scoring in the triple digits, the fantasy gods continued to punish Rol for his bad Metroid opinions by giving almost all of Angelus' players career days (This means that Angelus got his incredible, beat anyone in the league performance out of the way before the playoffs, right?). Antonio Brown put up 32 points, LeSean McCoy put up 25, Mark Ingram 22...the fucking Ravens' defense 26. Investigations are opening up into whether Angelus has been shipped PEDs to his fantasy players last week. Rol's playoff hopes are officially cooked, but hey, at least his kicker is solid: Stephen Gostkowski scored 10+ points for the fourth straight week.
Biggest Upset: Dongo's Gridiron Gamers 94.52, ItErtzWhenEifert 65.60
Raise your hand if you saw this one coming. Dongo demolished probably the toughest obstacle in his way to a playoff spot despite what I can only assume was intercepting some telepathic waves from the Bills' front office and being mind tricked into starting Jay Cutler (1 point). The Chargers' DST (25), Jordan Howard (19), and Demaryius Thomas (12) turned in solid games, but the real storyline was how badly Ludicrous' team flopped. The one-two punch of Alex Smith and Kareem Hunt, which has been so effective this season, only managed 15 points, while Ludicrous' kicker and DST combined for just 8. No one on his team really turned in an outstanding performance to pick up the slack. The win moves Dongo back into the playoff picture for the time being, while knocking Ertz out of his long held perch atop the Hoshido Division.
Other Playoff Significant Game: Noble Team 360 97.48, The Longest Foot 78.96
Having Tom Brady only does so much for you when you've got three players on your team that score under two points. Keenan Allen's 28 point game gave Noble a lead he would not relinquish, and other contributions from Adam Thielen (18 points) and Melvin Gordon (14) were enough to keep the "closest" game of the week from being particularly exciting. On the flipside, Brady (25 points) and Alvin Kamara (20) couldn't make up for awful performances from Javorius Allen (2), Jermain Gresham (1), and Greg Zuerlein (1). Not sure how much you can really blame Zuerlein as much as the Rams' offense, though, since they only gave him one opportunity to kick. Noble remains
The Rest:
Alpha Males 88.32, SCAB 41.80
Arminillo 106.18, The Loins 81.66
Nohrian Scum 109.82, HanginwithHernandez 75.20
Current Standings
#1: X-Arch (9-2, Hoshido Division Leader)
#2: NobleTeam360 (7-4, Nohr Division Leader)
#3: X-ItErtzWhenEifert (8-3)
#4: X-Nohrian Scum (8-3)
#5: Arminillo (6-5)
#6: Dongo's Gridiron Gamers (6-5)
In Contention: The Longest Foot (6-5)
Tiebreaker Explanation:
-ItErtzWhenEifert is the #3 seed over Nohrian Scum due to head to head record (1-0)
-Arminillo is the #5 seed due to record against teams with the same record (2-0), compared to Dongo (1-1) and Foot (0-2)
-Dongo is the #6 seed over Foot due to head to head record (1-0)
We're down to 7 teams with playoff hopes; the other 5 have been mathematically eliminated. With my win this week, 3 of those spots are officially clinched as well, leaving 3 teams to compete for 4 spots. Given that we're so close to the end of the regular season, there's quite a few clinching scenarios this week (I'm not going to the effort to calculate/post scenarios that involve ties, sorry). Additionally, no team currently left in contention can be eliminated from playoff contention barring at least one tie game.
-Noble can clinch a playoff spot with a win, or a Dongo loss, or a Longest Foot loss
-Noble can clinch the Nohr Division title and a first round bye with a win and an Arminillo loss
-Arminillo can clinch a playoff spot with a win
-Dongo can clinch a playoff spot with a win and a Longest Foot loss
-Arch can clinch the Hoshido Division title and a first round bye with a win and an ItErtzWhenEifert loss
The most important game this week by far is Arminillo vs. Dongo, in a matchup of the two teams left in playoff contention with negative point differentials. Dongo has somehow managed to remain in the thick of the playoff race despite being the only team in the league not named SCAB to score less than 900 points so far this season. This matchup could ultimately depend on whether Dongo acquires the common sense to not start fucking Jay Cutler before this Sunday. Arminillo won the previous matchup between these teams, 105.10-79.08.
The other 2 vs. 3 matchup features Ludicrous, who is coming off his worst game of the season vs. myself, who had my worst game of the season against Ludicrous. After going 6-0 against the Nohr Division with an average margin of victory of 34 points per game, I now have to go back to playing Hoshido teams, which I have a 2-3 record against and a far less encourage average point margin of +2.2 points per game. This matchup could heavily depend on whose RBs score touchdowns, as Bell, Gurley, Hunt, and Morris have all struggled with scoring lately. I need a win and an Arch loss to SCAB to keep a very slim hope for the Hoshido Division title alive, while Ertz can ensure a winner take all showdown against Arch next week for the division crown with a win. ItErtzWhenEifert won the previous matchup between these teams, 73.78-55.02.
The other notable playoff matchup features Seth and BlowoverKing, in a rematch of quite possibly the ugliest game of the season. As mentioned previously, Seth can't be eliminated with a loss since either Arminillo or Dongo will be 6-6 after this week. Unfortunately for Seth, he loses any tiebreaker against either Arminillo or Dongo due to losing games to both of them, so a loss would put him in a situation where he needs to both win next week and hope for the loser of Arminillo-Dongo to lose their final game. The loss of Chris Thompson for the season might make pursuing a deadline RB trade a worthwhile proposition. The Longest Foot won the previous matchup between these teams, 56.02-55.56.
Speaking of deadlines, the trade deadline is this Saturday. If you have any last minute offers to propose, now is the time.
Good luck the rest of the way, and may the tiebreakers be ever in your favor.
