In fairness, that is an absolutely crappy video (quality-wise). This one is much better:

For supreme viewing, however, I'll always recommend Gamersyde:

The bigger issue lies more in expectation, rather than if the game truly looked bad. For example, the screens from 2015 gave the impression that the visuals would look superior to what we have now, but this was also before the craze of 4K happened:

Frankly, I expected a much uglier game, based on the recent comments around the net. What's there isn't that bad. Crackdown's never been about screeching-halt visuals - rather, the over-the-top action and unique artstyle. Think: Borderlands.

Thats from a Trailer..... same with bullshots, you dont always know the end result is going to end up looking like that (which it doesnt appear too).

Why not judge it based on gameplay videos instead?

Heres a gameplay video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrOj1JrV-C4

Never ever believe a trailer for a MS published game. (Looking at you Forza)

Then don't put out the game as if to showcase the capability of X1X as a 4kHDR Machine as they did on E3. Unfortunatelly the game seems to be running more on PS360 than on Scorpio level hardware. And if they focus that this was possible because how good Scorpio is, the system won't have much showcase of its capacities.

Well it's one of their premiere exclusives this year besides Forza. What do you want them to do? Downplay their own game? I don't see anyone at MS saying Crackdown 3 is the pinicle of the X1X power. They just touting it runs at 4kHDR just like every other game that will run at 4kHDR on the X1X. You can go ahead and say the game looks bad but that won't take away from how fun it is.

So MS touting the game as a great showcase for 4KHDR should be excused because they have to prop the game even if it doesn't deliver? What kind of logic is that? You don't have to say something untrue just because you have to say something. You can stick to what is true.

What are they lying about? Are they lying the game runs at 4k HDR? This seems like you have a personal issue with the game not being up to your graphical standards. Please link me to where MS is touting Crackdown as something it's not.

I don't understand people defending this game's graphics because they're cartoony. Like, what? I'm not a fan of most cell-shaded games, I think it's kind of ugly and overused at this point, but there's many cartoony and/or cell shaded games that look amazing. Borderlands 2 looks better than Crackdown 3, and so does Breath of the Wild, and so do many many games.

Ouch. How far this game has fallen is amazing. It was supposed to be a showcase of what the XBO could do. Now, it looks like it could run on the 360, albeit in 720p with slightly shorter draw distance.

This kinda points to the rumor that MS actually isn't spending more on 1st party being true. Either way, this definitely shouldn't be the game you're trying awe people with running in 4K on the XBX. The Pro could easily pull that off, I would imagine.

lol blame the players. Why did they go with cell shading and then still bleed all the color out of it, weird choice. It looks very bland.

The first two also where cell shaded.

Yep, people saying it looks like a 2008/2009 game need their eyes checked.

My vision is fine, this game just looks ugly, shockingly so for a high profile current gen release IMHO. I just played through Gears of War 2 on 360 a few months ago, a game from 2008, and it looked more visually pleasing than this. From 2009, Uncharted 2 looks way more appealing.

What did you expect from MS first party?
