Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is nobody going to talk about the fact that Atari re-entered the console market?

Will sell less than Wii U.

Wake me up when Sega re-enters the console market.

Sega could probably do it...

SEGA is still SEGA and be more interesting if they came back.

Id be happier to hear that Sega re-entered the market, than Atari.

I dont even know why Atari bothered, Im pretty sure they will fail, and lose money attempting the comeback.

Oh so Infogrames are entering the console market. They took their time. Now we need Square Enix to release that PS3 killer that people were talking about after they consumed Taito 11 years ago. Play FF7R only on the Square Enix Eternal Sphere.

At the right price this could be big, but it's hard to imagine it changing the market with Atari's current development resources.

That said, they probably don't expect this to be the next Playstation - they're hoping it will be the next NES mini.

I'll check it out if they have enough interesting games included in the box.

I have little faith in the games library it will have. The SD slot doesn't inspire confidence.

I still have my Atari, my first home console. While I still play it from time to time, it's purely for nostalgia. Gameplay is mostly very basic and the graphics + music often make me nauseous. Compared to say, the NES and SMS, where gameplay is still very enjoyable.

That being said, the design is fantastic, that is one sexy looking machine.

Hmm, I forgot Infogrames owns Atari.  If they were to pursue the Ubisoft buyout that everyone's been talking about, that could make a new Atari console a lot more interesting, although I don't think Ubisoft or Atari have the skills to sell first-party hardware on a huge scale.

I'd like to see Atari put a big arcade-gaming focus on this thing, that could differentiate it from the competition.

Ubisoft does make some great games (even if they are...well..becoming their own genre in a sense, for obvious reasons), but simply because they would absolutely never make their games exclusive to a "Ubisoft Open World Machine GX", the console would be a seriously niche product.

Consoles are a very saturated market, another serious entry will find it very hard to exist in it.

Your big arcade gaming idea sounds very solid, though.

I don't think it's the same Atari, but another company banking on the name to try to get into the business.

I knew that, but didn't wanted to sound smart-ass.
