Well Kero, Zelda games have never been juggernauts in terms of commercial reception, rather than critical one. This might be the first evergreen Zelda title since... Ocarina of Time maybe?

That's not true AT ALL, lol. I don't know why *every freakin time* people talk about Nintendo, they try to make it sound like their IPs don't sell well unless it's Mario. It's like this weird notion where people try to bring up statistics to be "objective" but don't understand them. I think people just see sales of Smash Bros, Mario Kart and Animal Crossing and just make judgements based on that. But really Zelda is pretty damn successful, I mean Twilight Princess  was a sales juggernaught, sold as well as Ocarina, and the average sales for Zelda games are 4.5 - 7 million. That's a LOT. It puts Zelda at worst just barely behind stuff like Uncharted, Gears of War and God of War, and at best just above them(if we're talking past gen titles). Breath of the Wild will just be the first Zelda game to get past 7 mill (beyond remasters). Could even beat Uncharted 4 possibly.

The real reason Horizon is keeping up with BOTW has to do with Switch units on the market vs Playstation 4 units on the market, not "Zelda games not being a commercial juggernaught".

Either way, as long as both are successful everyone will be happy.

You should read my other post. I've aknowledged that over 3 millions is exceptional, but put it alongside MANY other Nintendo franchises, Zelda is definitely not a sales juggernaut. I didn't say that if it's not Mario, it doesn't sell well, you put out of shape my sayings. Never claimed Zelda is not successful. Zelda next to Horizon: successful. Zelda next to Animal Crossing: not so successful. But I'm glad BotW can break that. We need Zelda to break that.

Last official Zeruda Switch figure from Nintendo was already beaten by Horizon. What makes vgc think that changed now?

Time for big adjustments with the next official numbers.

Zelda's official numbers were 2.76 million as of March 31st. https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/finance/software/index.html

Horizon was at 3.4 million as of APRIL 30th. 900k of that was digital, so physical was 2.5 million. http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2017/06/05/horizon-zero-dawn-sales-passes-3-4-million-copies-sold/

VGChartz had Horizon at 2.76 million physical as of April 29th. http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/42855/Global/

So Horizon was actually overtracked at that point.

On the other hand, Zelda was at 2.07 million on VGChartz as of April 1st, despite Zelda's shipment numbers exceeding those of the Switch itself, which VGChartz had at 2.46 million sold.

Zelda had a 99% physical ratio in the United States for March, selling over 900k physical. https://venturebeat.com/2017/04/13/march-2017-npd-nintendo-sold-906000-switch-systems-last-month/

VGChartz is only at 887k.

http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/42827/USA/

The last official numbers for each game have Zelda undertracked and Horizon overtracked on VGChartz. If anything, Zelda's lead is higher than what is shown here. Try actually looking at the data before making ignorant claims.

I have to laugh at people who think that a 3D Mario game will outsell a real Zelda game. Hahahahahahahahahaha. It will never happen!!!!

What's a ''real Zelda game''?

We haven't had official figures in a while and Zelda is always ahead of Horizon on Amazon, even with the $20 price cut Horizon got.

Horizon was always going to have a bigger launch due to Zelda being a launch title on a supply constrained system. It will have much better legs though. And it won't need price cuts to achieve that.

This is without even including the Wii U version.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

You should read my other post. I've aknowledged that over 3 millions is exceptional, but put it alongside MANY other Nintendo franchises, Zelda is definitely not a sales juggernaut. Well sorry for the misunderstanding. I kind of knew what you were takling about, I just think we've gotten to a point where comparing Nintendo sales to other Nintendo sales is kind of retractive. Any other company would love 3+ million, I don't know why Zelda (and my bae Metroid) have to be knocked down for it. But I'll admit I misunderstood a bit, my bad. I think BOTW will easily do 9 million, hopefully it can get to 11. I agree with you that i'd like to see Zelda become on the same level as 3D Mario or Animal Crossing.

Hell, this might even be the first Zelda to pass 1 million in Japan since Ocarina of Time(something that no one is noticing! amazing accomplishment)

My goal wasn't to dismiss Zelda. It was to crush Kerotan's argument

Expected of Zelda, but great job Horizon!!!
