Sooooo hummm RIP the Gold Coins program on March 24th I guess ?

Since I wasn't purchasing much digital, I wasn't raking the points enough for the bigger purchases like digital collectors could but it honestly was nice from time to time to get a cheaper indie only using my gold points.

I don't if it ultimately means they'll replace the system with another one like they did with the Gold/Platinum coins when they discontinued Club Nintendo back then, but I sincerely hope they have something in mind nonetheless.

Although with current digital adoption, is it really a wonder why they'd go this way ? So many have switched to digital that there isn't as much incentive to get people into buying digital games as it was an uphill battle when the generation and started, kinda.

Anyway, also Game Vouchers will only be redeemable for Switch 1 games. The Vouchers won't carry for Switch 2 software which isn't that surprising too.
Maybe we get a "premium vouchers" service or an update on it for the new system is my guess.

Hopefully, most of it gets answered during that Switch 2 presentation Direct.

my guess is vouchers will be gone until later in the gen. IIRC NSW didn’t receive this voucher program until its sixth year on the market, possibly as a replacement for Nintendo Selects.

also, yeah, Gold Coins Program being gone isn’t at all surprising. The company isn’t run by Iwata anymore (who famously cut a major cut to his salary in response to dismal Wii U sales figures). Furukawa runs the business a whole lot more like your standard JP business owner: Horizontal integration & maximizing profits.

I don't get why they couldn't let the coins carry over to Switch 2.

Because they want people to spend those coins now on Switch 1 and then spend all their real money on Switch 2.

Yes, it's nice to be reminded that Vouchers were actually pretty late into the lifecycle of the Switch. But I also thought that meant the system would carry on during the Switch 2 era.

Maybe it's something that'll come back eventually later or like I said they will just offer a pricier version of it for Switch 2 games.

That game always nags me when I look at my game list since it's sits at the bottom... Unplayed.

Heard many great things about it, ugh, I really should just give it an afternoon for a change of pace

This just reminded me: When is Pizza Tower getting that NSW physical release?? Wasn’t it announced all the way back in February last year? (Or am I misremembering?)

Looks like Fangamer is the one handeling that one. It just has a TBA 2025 for now.
