Ehh.

I just beat it today (and don't even have a Switch lol), and yeah I agree the final boss was underwhelming especially considering how awesome the one in the first game was, but it was far from being terrible - really, it couldn't possibly be terrible considering you get the freaking Rainmaker (!!) at the end. Then again, everything else was miles better this time. Splatoon 1 had an alright campaign with meh bosses, Splatoon 2 had an amazing campaign with great bosses, I'm definitely not annoyed just because the last one didn't live up - if anything, Splatoon 1's final boss was the only thing they couldn't possibly improve upon, and it really seems to have been the only thing that hasn't been massively improved from my experience so far, everything else is just bliss (talking about the whole game, not just single player).

I've heard a lot of people say the final boss was disappointing, but I kind of feel like that was almost inevitable considering how ridiculously amazing the first game's was.

Agreed, the final boss was underwhelming. But Splatoon 2 campaign as a whole is way more solid and fun imho.

Story Spoiler:

I also didn't how Callie was brainwashed. The story would actually be a little interesting if she joined the Octarians by choice, but instead it's actually laughable as the brainwashing served literally no purpose. I guess it's my fault for expecting something out of the story in a Nintendo game.

Oh and I got all the scrolls (which gives you nothing btw) but no info on why an Octarian is allowed in Inkopolis, the thing I was most interested in.

That's encouraging to hear, as I'll probably be playing Splatoon 2 for the most part. Is it longer than the original SP campaign or about the same length?

First S+ mode reached! However it's pretty lonely here, though I suppose that's fitting. Searched for like 10 minutes and not a single soul showed up. =/

I believe it's the same amount of levels, but I felt like it was slightly longer (probably because there's considerably less multiplayer stage levels than before). I also agree on the campaign being better than the first game's, actually I'd say it's a whole lot better, it isn't even comparable. Splatoon 1's campaign was pretty straightforward and basic really, this one pushes you to do a lot of creative things, use all your weapons and there's a lot of really cool mechanics everywhere... plus even the overworld is a joy to explore, moreso than before. (edit: oh and the bosses are also far better this time around - I was especially impressed with the 4th one.)

I like the sound of that, maybe I'll end up getting it sooner rather than later then! My backlog is pretty huge though, I don't want to keep overwhelming myself

Oh wow, I never even reached S+ on the first game, thanks for making me feel bad about myself =/

Edit: also do you know how the new rank system works? I played a bit and it seems to be a huge mystery, I jumped from rank C- to C+ (or B-, can't remember) once, but when I lose the bar just shakes (or cracks) instead of going down... at some point I got past a little marker in the bar that said "OK", which I've no idea what it means either. I'm confused as hell by all of this.

Salmon Run is only playable 12 hours a day I believe, because Nintendo.

The bar never goes down. If it cracks all the way, then you lose all your progress toward the next rank. If you haven't even passed the OK mark, then you go down a rank.

EDIT: Also, I think if you fill the bar without any cracks, you go up two ranks at once.

Hmm, okay that makes sense... it just feels like it's way too hard to lose ranks like this (I know at one point I lost like 4 or 5 games in a row and only then did it crack for the first time), like everyone's just gonna get to A+ eventually. I hope I'm wrong, though.

Yeah, I was thinking that too, but then I realized that it was pretty similar in the first game. When you start out at C-, a victory gives you like +15 points, and a loss is just -5 points. I'm guessing higher ranks will crack easier and have the OK mark at a higher point in the bar.
