I'm not counting on it anymore. It could take until the 2030s and be a launch or launch window title for Switch 2's successor. Mario Kart World was a brilliant launch title for Switch 2 and Animal Crossing could also be a huge launch title. We're long past the days of Super Mario as a predictable launch title, even though on Switch it was debatably still a launch window title as it launched less than 8 months after Switch launched.

I definitely wouldn’t jump to that conclusion so soon. EDP 5 is responsible for Splatoon and Animal Crossing— both of these games have received (or are receiving) NS2 Editions. Unless you believe the EDP will only put out Splatoon Raiders and DragXDrive this gen, I do think we’re getting a new AC & Splat 4.

How soon? My theory is that Nintendo will be spreading out heavy-hitter releases a lot more on NS2 than NS1. So, with this AC:NH update, while it is plausible that this is an instance of Nintendo priming fans for an upcoming AC reveal (so reveal and or launch in 2026/2027), I’m leaning slightly more towards Nintendo is dropping this release (alongside maybe some more small-scale updates) so as to hold fans over for the next few years, until AC:NS2 is ready for release later in the gen (2028 and beyond).

Animal Crossing New Horizons Switch 2 edition.

$65 for new purchasers, $5 upgrade for existing. Adds some other stuff but the main new content is this:

  • Resort Hotel’s Grand Opening: A resort hotel is opening on the pier, and it’s run by Kapp’n’s family. To bring in guests from off the island, you’ll help out by decorating guest rooms and more. Plus, find new furniture and clothing at the souvenir shop and dress up mannequins with outfits that guests can wear.

Seems like a nice update, though I guess we're not getting a brand new AC anytime soon lol.

Edit: wait my bad, most of this stuff is free for the Switch 1 version as well... so the $5 upgrade is mainly just for the resolution boost, mouse controls and camera...

Mouse controls in Animal Crossing sound nice. :)

Anyone else playing Luigi's Mansion? I started it up in the PAL version on NSO so I can eventually play the PAL Hidden Mansion for the first time. Nintendo should've made an SP version with the Hidden Mansion from the start. Yes, I know the game is short and easy. But still, it would be nice.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)

Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

The ghosts are stronger in the Hidden Mansion, but Luigi's vacuum is stronger as well.
