Forums - Gaming Discussion - Pokemon GO has earned $1.2 billion, 752 million downloads

New data from app intelligence startup Apptopia reveals the latest milestones for Pokemon GO.

Since the mobile game splashed onto the scene last year, it has generated $1.2 billion in revenue and 752 million downloads. Revenue from 2016 was $950 million, meaning players are still spending money in 2017.

Apptopia adds that Pokemon GO saw roughly 60 million monthly players in June, a decrease from August’s peak of 100 million but still very respectively. 20 percent of these users started the game at least once a day.

Finally, Apptopi shares a few statistics about Pokemon GO’s demographics. 57.4 percent of are male, 38 percent are millennials (ages 19 to 34), and 32.5 percent are 18 or younger.

Sad that the actual games don't get nearly as much in sales

Its even more incredible if you consider Lamborghini has announced they sold 8000 Huracans.

Each Huracan costs around 250000. So lamborghini earned 2 Billion with their best selling car in 3 years.

While Nintendo earned 1.2 Billion in 1 year with an app. Pretty sure the profit margin is also much higher than on a Huracan.

Well no, Nintendo didn't get all the money from Pokemon Go. It goes to The Pokemon Company, which is partly owned by Nintendo (somewhere between a third and 50%).

Good thing Nintendo entered the mobile space, their is a gold mine of money free for the taking that can be invested into actual full quality titles.

People forget that Niantic fucked up in so many ways to the point where even a five year old seemed more fit to run Pokemon Go. Imagine if they didn't have so many screw ups

Cool. I still want accessories to become a thing in this. Surf board for Surfer Pikachu, Squirtle Squad shades for Squirtle, Microphone for Jigglypuff, etc.

I honestly thought the revenue would be a lot higher than that, seeing what a phenomenon the game was for a while.

do the right thing, and uninstall this from your device ASAP.
