Forums - Microsoft - Forza 6 vs Real Life

As I commented on the video

"So incredibly distracting to see the water droplets on the X1 not effected by the cars turning in the slightest, they're always set to just advance on their path regardless of the cars turning, speed effects it slightly but when you see a car taking a sharp right turn, watch the drops on the right side of the car continue to advance towards the right side... it's gravity defying and utterly distracting, if they're not going to give weight to the effect they shouldn't have bothered."

Also the game gets everything to do with lightning and reflections wrong, the rain just makes the game dark, but the reality of it is, light hits off rain drops and spreads giving you the really bright road on the real life video, not the wet black look of Forza, it isn't hair getting wet, it's a road.

I appreciate Driveclub's rain a lot more now. That windshield rain is really bad.

Driveclub looks better than both.

But only Driveclub is 30 fps.

Unless you have the VR version which looks worse than 7th gen Forza.

Xbox One X could probaly run driveclub at 4k 60fps. If not native then definitely checkerboard. Forza 7 should really look better than it does when it comes to weather.

Resolution isn't what makes things look 'real'. Ask Evolution.

The PS5 Exists.

Driveclub looks good but it's pointless to compare it to Forza or GT because they run at twice the frame rate.

As good as #Driveclub looks though, I prefer racers that don't make my screen appear to be smeared with Vaseline :)

Forza is just missing the wiper blades.

Well that is pretty much impossible since they are out of business for over a year already.

Real Life isn't running at "true 4K"!

Forza 6 and Forza 7 on X1X or S isn't going to be as graphically advanced as Driveclub because Driveclub doesn't bake any of it's lighting or reflections. It's all calculated and rendered in real time, as well as global illumination. The rain effects you see in DriveClub aren't an artistic direction, but the result of real time lighting and reflections.

Again, its 30 fps and I don't believe the average player really notices these details. I appreciate quality graphics, but I don't know Driveclub is doing all of this until somebody explains it. I say this as a person that owns Driveclub. So it feels like a waste of resources.

In a nutshell, I'll take 60 fps over the advanced lighting of Driveclub. Primarily because the lighting effects in Forza look great as is and 60 fps feels better. It seems GT has a similar philosophy with its PS4 release.

Futhermore, the X1X will primarily allow for better textures, 4K, AA, and higher quality effects in Forza 7. While Driveclub uses more advanced lighting, Forza uses resources elsewhere... like 60 fps.
