Forums - Nintendo - Metroid fans, stop complaining!

Nintendo absolutely had to announce Metroid Prime 4 or some sort of main Metroid game for the Switch. To not have done so would have been to create such an outcry from Metroid fans (and we are legion on the internet despite the poor sales). Many fans are rightly disatisfied with this just being a title card reveal, but the alternative (a no show) would have been much worse and even you that are upset with the lackluster reveal would have to agree. Considering the money and assets that have gone into this franchise and the relatively low sales it achieves we're dang lucky that Nintendo truly cares about our love for most things Samus.

As someone who is really indifferent when it comes to Metroid, Samus Returns actually looks pretty cool. I'm not sure what people are complaining about but you'll always be able to find at least one person complaining about something out there.

Nintendo finally gives us not 1, but 2 Metroid games that we asked for, and you still can not stop complaining about them? Damn. I now see what Reggie was talking about years ago when they announced Pikmin 3. He said something along the lines of "we give the fans what they want (in Pikmins case, a new game in like 8 years), and they either complain about it, or they say, is that all? What else you got"

This isn't what fans wanted. They wanted Metroid Prime 4 developed by Retro. They got the game, but not the developer.

Retro of now, is not the same Retro that made MP 1-3. I'm glad they're finally getting a chance to make a new IP. They brought 2 franchises "back from the dead" they deserve a chance to make a new game. And it is what fans wanted, and side scrolling Metroid and a prime. Both coming soon.

Our wallets speak loudest. Picking up both Metroids.

I thought Metroid 2 looked awesome. My issue is the platform. I don't want to have to deal with 3DS anymore.

But Metroid 2 was really the only Metroid game I ever got much into, I played the first one a lot, but never got into any of the later games, especially the FPS Metroids.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I don't understand how anyone can be so hyped over a mere title without knowing who is working on them. We saw how Other M turned out to be, so fans have every right to be worried.

Yeah, I don't understand how these "fans" can bitch about Metroid at all, when they've been bitching for a few years for a new title and are getting 2 of them.

Stop complaining my ass!! That 3ds game looks horrible and the Switch one we have no idea when it is gonna be launched. So I am gonna keep crying until I get what I want, because pay for it.

So you're saying Nintendo knows that the 3DS game will be terrible?

Yeah... I hope you see the issue here.

Anyway, I don't believe everything a multi-billion dollar company tells me. Just because they showed a logo doesn't mean I have faith in the project. Maybe they haven't even started developing the game yet (I'm thinking this is the case, as they don't want to reveal the developer behind it).

No, because they knew there would be "fans"like you that would freak out and flip tables because there wouldnt be any Metroid on Switch. The same move was made about Pokemon and they saying that Relax, its comming to Switch.

They also knew that the 2D game would get automatic hate and not even be ocnsidered a purchase because it isn't a MP4 annoucement. Now those fans can relax knowing 4 will come

That's different.

People were doubting that the Switch was the true successor to the 3DS and they were unsure if it would receive a main-line Pokémon game. They just reassured us. Main-line Pokémon games are never in doubt, they will keep churning those out because they sell incredibly well.

Metroid Prime 4 though, the uncertaintity is much higher with this one, we don't even know who's developing it. If it was Retro Studios I wouldn't have doubts, but now I do. If they can't show footage at least tell me who's behind it. Otherwise I'm not going to believe there's an actual game in development right now. Remember Star Fox Zero that was announced before Nintendo even found a developer for it? How did that turn out?

So yes, I'm worried, and I have every right to be.

How many of the original Retro Studios is still employeed by Retro Studios who worked on Metroid Prime on GCN/Wii? If 2 or 3 people who were not pivital contributors to its success isn't it the same as giving it to a new team?
