And, THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is why Nintendo has ventured into mobile gaming.

They have the funds to create something truly magical and ambitious like a proper RPG (similar to Nino Kuni) on a home console or an MMO, yet they keep making the same games over and over again. I bought a 3ds and Pokemon Y when it came out and to this day I regret it. Such as shame. I still play Pokemon Go, but I'm well aware how bad it is. It's one of the few companies that don't deserve their success (imho). Well aware that others are happy with what they are producing, so I'm not saying they should change, just that I wish they would. |
Then you better put Pokemon stars on your e3 wish list!

Yeah, I heard about Stars, but I won't get excited until I see some gameplay videos.

Gamefreak makes the mainline Pokemons, not the Pokemon company.
Besides, look at Ni No Kuni sales and at Pokemon sales, and you know why Level5 didn't made another entry earlier, but already has a lot of Yokai Watch. You may find Ni No Kuni more impressive, but seemingly the majority of gamers disagree.
Also, you yourself play PokemonGo, so sending the signal that they should do more of this.

Very well aware what part of the company makes what. Just like Sony asks Naughty Dog to make a game and obviously has a say when it comes to the direction of the game, The Pokemon Company can order an RPG.
Strong logical fallacy right here. You assume that Ni no Kuni sold worse because of the game it is, ignoring the importance of the brand. Gamefreak could secretly make a Pokemon game without the Pokemon name and you would see how much worse those sales would be. Did you hear about that elephant game they made? Few people bothered checking it out and the reviewers didn't like it either.
"You may find Ni No Kuni more impressive, but seemingly the majority of gamers disagree"
Seemingly is the key word here. Games sold from bad to amazing for a number of reasons. Until we see a good Pokemon RPG game, you can't know what gamers prefer. We're talking about different brands. I don't know a single person who has even heard of Ni no Kuni. Of course it's not gonna sell well.
But I fail to see why you bring up sales, when I coudn't have expressed my point more clearly. See my bolded and underlined text. My point is that for someone like me this terrible news. They have no reason to innovate or try something different (at least the way I want them to) because they are so successful. Just like some Sony fans don't want Sony dominating because they try harder when they have serious competition or when they struggle with hardware sales.
As for Pokemon go, they haven't made a penny from me. Not only have I not bought anything, I don't even battle against others (which perhaps would make them spend more money to beat me). I don't post about it on facebook and I've only mentioned it to a few friends.

its also a bigger boost that 2013 or 14 when they did have a mainline game.
Pokemon is like the Minecraft of games.

Fair enough. OK, I should state, that I'm very happy with Pokemon games as they are. I certainly wouldn't be too thrilled about a Pokemon MMO, but as long as the main series mainly stays the way it is, they can do whatever.
Tembo the badass elephant looked well enough, but I hate platformers. For this reason alone I never considered it. I play and enjoy the Pocket Card Jockey though, a game from Gamefreak so obscure, practically nobody noted it although it is from the Pokemon-maker. Check it out, it is quite fun, but be prepared, it is nothing like Pokemon.
