Gamefreak makes the mainline Pokemons, not the Pokemon company. Besides, look at Ni No Kuni sales and at Pokemon sales, and you know why Level5 didn't made another entry earlier, but already has a lot of Yokai Watch. You may find Ni No Kuni more impressive, but seemingly the majority of gamers disagree. Also, you yourself play PokemonGo, so sending the signal that they should do more of this. |
Very well aware what part of the company makes what. Just like Sony asks Naughty Dog to make a game and obviously has a say when it comes to the direction of the game, The Pokemon Company can order an RPG.
Strong logical fallacy right here. You assume that Ni no Kuni sold worse because of the game it is, ignoring the importance of the brand. Gamefreak could secretly make a Pokemon game without the Pokemon name and you would see how much worse those sales would be. Did you hear about that elephant game they made? Few people bothered checking it out and the reviewers didn't like it either.

Seemingly is the key word here. Games sold from bad to amazing for a number of reasons. Until we see a good Pokemon RPG game, you can't know what gamers prefer. We're talking about different brands. I don't know a single person who has even heard of Ni no Kuni. Of course it's not gonna sell well.
But I fail to see why you bring up sales, when I coudn't have expressed my point more clearly. See my bolded and underlined text. My point is that for someone like me this terrible news. They have no reason to innovate or try something different (at least the way I want them to) because they are so successful. Just like some Sony fans don't want Sony dominating because they try harder when they have serious competition or when they struggle with hardware sales.
As for Pokemon go, they haven't made a penny from me. Not only have I not bought anything, I don't even battle against others (which perhaps would make them spend more money to beat me). I don't post about it on facebook and I've only mentioned it to a few friends.
