Forums - Gaming - What would make you buy a Scorpio at launch?

$199 price point with gold membership free for a year.

Not interested, but I'd buy it if it's less than €50.

There's no realistic scenario that would see me buying a Scorpio. I have no interest in it at all. Or another online subscription fee for that matter. Beyond that, I straight up don't like MS, so no matter the quality of their Xbox offerings, it's just not happening.

I will buy it no matter what.

Maybe if it gets bundled with a switch.... cant seem to find one anywhere in the SD area :/

Around the Network

Seems to be an overwhelming amount of negativity around the new console from a company that once rode high on the XBox360. I trace the beginning of the end to this compoany's cred to E3 2009 when Microsoft unveiled the Kinect (and the feet of their avatars) and tried to cuddle up with the fickle and fading Wii audience instead of focusing on being a quality hardcore hardware company that they had pretended to be since the XBox. We'll see if this forum's negativity regarding this new upgrade pans out to true numbers in the general gaming market.

At launch!

I already played the XBO-exclusive games that interested me on my old Xbox One.

Unless Microsoft breaks its "play anywhere" promise, I will be able to play all future games on my PC (Microsoft exclusives + most 3rd party games), PS4 Pro (Sony exclusives + most 3rd party games) and Switch (Nintendo exclusives + some 3rd party games I wanna play on the go). So I'm good.

But for people who don't enjoy PC gaming or don't already have a PC which can keep up with a Scorpio, it can be a good alternative.

I can't really think of anything that would make me buy it at launch, although that applies to pretty much any console ever. As far as I'm concerned there's absolutely no reason to buy any console at launch, regardless of price, launch lineup or any other factor.

Without knowing yet what Microsoft has planned for the Scorpio for launch this holiday, be it games, AR, the pricepoint or something else.

What would it take for you to buy it, and what gaming platforms are you playing on today?

I am a PS4 and PC gamer, and am more likely to buy the switch. I mean come on, it has zelda and the upcoming Odyssey. I don't have any reason to buy the scorpio. As a gaming platform it is just uninteresting. If the AR technology shapes up to be awesome for games, that would still hold me off.  Because it would mean buying a scorpio + some AR device = $$$. In which case I would rather buy the PSVR for my existing ecosystem = less $.

I really don't see what games they might announce, that could spark console sales. A new Forza, Gears probably not. A new Halo perhaps yes. But two of those franchises have lost their place of consumer demand.

I just don't see it.
Microsoft really needs to excell at this E3, or the scorpio will be DOA.
