Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony PS4 partners with FIFA 18 to combat Xbox Scorpio launch – rumor

Its dumb to focus on the scorpio. The premium consoles wont matter when the bundles need to be sold to the late adopters who want deals. Hopefully, these bundles are limited and they focus on the base models. Seriously, this power bullshit is becoming embarassing. ::Goes back to playing Zelda on my less powerful switch::

How is it power bullshit?  Many gamers enjoy playing their games on powerful hardware. More choice the better.

I agree their premium offering won't set the world alight because price is key but who's to say MS won't have a $199 xbox slim?

Any big name combined with the PS4 will hurt the XB1. Replace Fifa with Madden and you may or may not see more damage in the American market- not too sure.

The Scorpio however will enter a difficult market- to an average consumer, why would they go for a $400-500 console with NO game instead of a console for $299 WITH a game?

Explain to me what you mean by NO Games?

Last time i checked Xbox Live, they have many 360 BC library of games, all the XB1 titles, all Future XB1 titles, MS's own exclusives which arent availble on competition console, and the ability to render big AAA games in 4k, not just indies.

You misread my statement

It comes WITH no games, not that it has no games. Most people would rather take a cheaper console with a game over a beefy console that comes with nothing

You know what really combats the Scorpio launch?, the fact that both Nintendo and Sony offer better games.

Wouldnt that change now with Xbox Live Pass? And whos to say it wont be bundled with games? Maybe there working out a deal for RDR2 next year as a small example.

To say it has NO games is a big assumption. I highly doubt they wont have good deals or Trade in Deals like they did with PS3s and 360s etc. Trade in your XB1 or PS4 and get a Scorpio for half price.. maybe they will bundle in the Live Pass with each launch Scorpio for the first year? They wont show there cards before E3. The system with NO games might end up having the largest catalog for a launch system in the industry if they pass out a Live Pass etc. Many possibilities and i daubt they will launch Scorpio with no starter software.

That was an example

Id say this is what matters.

Power has never won a generation. It just so happened to be that the PS4 was the most powerful console this gen. Sony won because of their price and value as they usually do. Graphics was just added insult to injury. I dont think I have to remind anyone that the PS2 was made fun of as the weaker console and beat the original Xbox by 136  million consoles or more

I think this was a great marketing deal for MS to get traction in Europe, so smart move by Sony I guess.

But maybe they should have did this years ago.

Nintendo's amazing games didn't do much for Wii U. While Sony's success is primarily from 3rd party games also on Xbox.

Lets just say better games is subjective given MS's titles do have a following.

hmm, if power is really that bullshit to you why aren't you playing Zelda on the even less powerful Wii U instead?

If you look at past posts, I was looking for reasons to buy a Wii U and couldnt find many. Its not like the Switch is powerful either. Thats why its not getting the multiplats, but its getting a nice list of indie third party though. I already have five games which is amazing. Soon to be six. They all look beautiful because of their artistic development, which is something Nintendo does better than everyone else. Sony and Nintendo excel at making the most out of the hardware they have. I mean, if Zelda was launching on a promising new console with great possibilities becauses design caters to Nintendos strength or an old console Nintendo was about to abandon..which would you choose?
