Two big Mario games only a few months apart doesn't seem like a great idea. They may be different in terms of gameplay, but still, franchise fatigue is a thing.

I don't think you have to worry so much about something like Mario Odyssey being affected by Mario + Rabbids. Odyssey is among the most highly anticipated games of the year as it's a return to the 3D sandbox style akin to 64/Sunshine and it's a new 3D Mario, which has held high prestige in similarity with Zelda in general. I don't think Mario + Rabbids will cause fatigue for a game that is highly anticipated and has the highest YouTube views (21.5 million) among any other video uploaded by Nintendo, including Zelda BoTW's acclaimed story trailer and E3 2016 trailer.
I guess you have a point if we have more Mario games coming this year and next. And it's possible if Mario Maker Switch becomes a thing. But for now, there's two Mario games we know of right now, if we don't include Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
