While that's shipped, I think VGC will have to update and increase their numbers for the last weeks. Same goes for the Software, as MK8 and especially platoon 2 are strongly undertracked.

Very nice! It is catching up on PS4 slowly, but certainly.

At the bottom of the page it says worldwide consolidated sales in units life-to-date.

Wouldn't that be sold instead of shipped, in that wording?

Afaik that's sold to retailers (aka shipped) plus digital sales in case of games. I could be wrong though

That's what I'm trying to figure out... mmm

According to their Earnings Release Supplement, at page 4 the software sales includes bundles and digital, so that's most definitely sold (otherwise, shipped wouldn't include digital, I guess)

Going by that logic it would be... inconsistent to release numbers for only shipped consoles. I believe adjustments were made in that regard when the Three Months Earnings released.

Perhaps we should seek for someone who could confirm that.

Unless stated otherwise, treat Nintendo numbers as shipped + digital.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

I don’t know if this helps but aquamarine claims to have spoken to Nintendo about it, and consolidated means sold to a retailer... which basically means shipped as it doesn’t necessarily mean bought by a customer. I could be wrong.

I don't think anyone has said it has been ahead of PS4 launch aligned, at no point other than week 1 was it ahead lol. What people have been talking about is that For the past few weeks, switch has been catching up to PS4 (slowly, but steadily). And that IS globally; regardless of how poorly it is performing in Europe / ROW, overall, it has been recently tracking ahead.

i should note that very few people who actually look at sales would think switch will overtake PS4. Maybe you heard people saying it could end up having a better first year due to the holiday season still coming? Which is possible, but nonetheless speculation.

Nope, there were some people celebrating the Switch doing better than PS4 on the week and expecting Switch to outsell PS4 when both stop selling. I won't say it is a lot of people, but there were some.

But so far Switch have been presenting a very good sale performance.

Although I personally don't believe in it, it's certainly not impossible. Nintendo is aiming at 14 million FY, so it's dong equally well as the PS4.
