Forums - Nintendo - Will the new 2DS be another failure from Nintendo?

It's a great concept.....

2DS was not a failure. Aimed at younger children at a cheap price and did just that.

It's for 6-year-olds. What's the problem? It doesn't have to be some huge hit, it's to serve the kids market that won't be able to afford a Switch for a while. It gets new kids introduced to the Nintendo IP and then they graduate up to Switch in a few years. No problemo. It's something they're going to ship 5-6 million units of, it's not some huge market device.

I think they could keep it around for another 2 years really. A 6/7/8 year old doesn't need anything better than that. It has Pokemon, and perfectly playable Mario Kart, 2D Mario, 3D Mario, Smash Brothers, Animal Crossing, etc. It's got good enough games, combined with the DS, several thousand titles.

I remember reading somewhere that the 2DS sold better than the N3DS. Not sure where, it was a long ago. But considering the 2DS was cheap and easy to make, I'm sure they don't consider it a failure. The N2DS will probably sell well enogh to justify its existance, but I would have prefered to stick with the Switch.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

That's untrue. It may have sold better in one region for like a period of a quarter (3 months), but the N3DS XL is the best selling model in the family.

As the most appealing DS yet to me, I don't see why it would.

Have any of the revisions of the 3DS been a failure? Have any of the revisions of the DS been a failure? For the GBA? GB? No? Okay.

It's the best looking 3DS family system, it's got a decent price and ditches the useless 3D.

It will sell great, i'm buying it for sure.

I haven't bought any version of the 3DS and the new 2DS is the first one that is actually tempting me.

Another failure!? lol

Point of 2DS XL is very obvious and simple, to offer cheaper alternative of New 3DS XL, it's basically New 3DS XL just without 3D and with $50 lover price point.
