Forums - Nintendo - Maybe Nintendo Having Just 1 Mario Kart Title [MK8 Deluxe] for Switch is a Good Thing?

The idea that Switch should NEVER get an actual MK9 ever, is absurd. MK8+ is a lazy port, AND including content that should have been in the original game to begin with (actual battle arenas, etc.).

If people want to buy it, that's fine. But it's a Wii U port on Switch, period. That's like saying that Switch should never get another ground up Zelda game, and only ever have the Wii U port Breath of the Wild (amazing as it is).

Yes, Switch should get Mario Kart 9, eventually. Why? Because every new Nintendo console since SNES has gotten it's own ground up, brand new MK game. Because I'd like to see an MK game that, god forbid, makes improvements on what MK8 did, and takes full advantage of the superior Switch hardware. Same with Zelda for that matter. BoTW is brilliant in many ways, a great game. But they could absolutely improve upon it, including but not limited to, again, taking full advantage of the Switch hardware, instead of just being a port of a Wii U game.

So me, I'm good. I already bought MK8. I liked it, except for the shitty "Battle Mode", and it should have had arenas, even just ONE (Block Fort please), from the beginning. But I'm not gonna buy it twice. I'll wait for a proper, ground-up Switch MK, which will absolutely be coming, in the next year or two, I'd well imagine.

I'd rather have a new MK... Not because I played MK8 already on the wiiU but you know... New mk = new stuff and new graphics and new maps and etc...

And of course from a business standpoint, mk9 would outsell F-zeo and Diddy kong racing 2 combined so I don't why Nintendo wouldn't do it...

I suppose they will release MK9 when MK8D sales start to slow down.

So in 7 years?

Yes, MK9 in 2 years would be a waste of highly talented resources.

Bet with PeH:

I win if Arms sells over 700 000 units worldwide by the end of 2017.

Bet with WagnerPaiva:

I win if Emmanuel Macron wins the french presidential election May 7th 2017.

The only thing I'll maybe want is another dlc round for mk8 delux.

Would defeat the purpose of a ''Deluxe Edition'' don't you think ?

I should correct that and say "free dlc." Wasn't the first dlc free for MK8?

You'll get Mario Kart 9 in 2019 IMO.

Probably won't see MK9 anytime soon, but I would much rather have that than a different racing IP from Nintendo.. Fast RMX is a good racer too, so with those 2, I wouldn't really be interested in Diddy Kong Racing or a new racing IP, imo

The only free DLC was the 200C mode they added 1 year and half ago. The rest was paid DLC.

The Mercedes-Benz DLC (read ad) was also free

The Switch version with battle mode will be an instant classic. It doesn't make any sense to release a whole new game this gen. MK8D is gonna have HUGE attach rate for years to come and all DLC will be lapped up like cream in a saucer.
The next racing game will be Diddy Kong Racing 2 at the end of the Switch's life cycle and maybe F-Zero although Nintendo isn't too keen on remaking it since Miyamoto said that they pretty much did most of what you can do with that style on the SNES.

In addition; the Switch already has Fast Racing NEO and that could crowd out an F-ZERO (not too much given the brand).

I would love to play a Switch F-ZERO though! I couldnt get into FRN on the WiiU with that stupid arbitrary colour switching. Does the Switch version have that?

MK9 is happening on Switch. MK8DX was to avoid a drought and just have something until ARMS and Splatoon 2.
