Forums - Gaming - Will the Dual Shock ever have staggered analog sticks?

Right off the bat, I prefer the dual analog stick placement of the Dual Shock 4 over the staggered design.  But do you think you'll ever see a day when Sony employs the staggered design for a future Dual Shock controller?  Since the Dreamcast, the only other time I've seen a non-staggered dual analog stick placement from a major console developer was on Wii classic controllers.  Now, even Nintendo is using a staggered design for the Joycon.  It ultimately boils down to the player's preference, but is Sony sticking to their dual analog stick design for consistancy or is this what most gamers really want?

I hope not, and considering the success Sony has seen even with its current design, I wouldn't expect any changes either. That said, changes are definitely possible...

That's the dream. I much prefer the asymmetrical sticks of the XOne and Switch controllers. It would be great if Sony followed suit.

The stick placement on DualShock has always been its Achilles heel, in my mind.

What about the WiiU gamepad and the Pro controller?

I really hope that this will never happen because I hate controllers with staggered analog sticks!
Dualshock controllers were always very successful and didn't need the staggered analog sticks.

i was just looking this up since Nintendo have gone back and forth.  And what I found kind of odd is that the WiiU can fuction as a portable, but the WiiU and 3DS sticks are in different positions.  And when I said Wii classic, I meant the Pro.

Please dont. The only reason I have an Xbox controller in my house is to use it for PC games, but luckily I dont have to anymore. The Dualshock 4 is pretty much the best gamepad that was ever made and analog placement is a big part of it.

Oh, well both the Wii classic and WiiU controllers have non-staggered sticks.

I dont really mind if they are staggered or not. I like both.

They're not going to change the most popular controller configuration, regardless of whether people with a less than popular configuration knock it.

The PS5 Exists.

I don't have a preference for one or the other, so for the dualshock I'd like them to stick with how it's always been!
