I meber the times sony games were dismissed because that's a remaster, that's a port, that's a remake they don't count (that is a niche game :D ), but hey nintendo congrats for a port and a remaster^^

Yup. 'member "portstation"? 'member "remasters are pointess unless they are at least 10 years old". 'member "TLoU is a port, doesn't count"?

Yeah, I remember it well. I was surprised and in awe for the brand name that PS4 did sell that much with just mostly ports and remasters. Switch at least has one current multiplat (Zelda) to sell it, but the other stuff are ports and remasters too. And I have no doubt Mario Kart will sell consoles. So PS4 and Switch both are very similar.

I remember when performance wasn't important. It's basically the same experience.

I remember when performance WAS important. Certain games are almost unplayable if they aren't at a certain resolution.

Hah, this reminds me how important three more grass-tufts in GTAV were very important. And shortly after it released on PC, XBO and PS4, with a lot more grass-tufts.

As a side note, (don't know really if there's a discussion about this) I don't really consider Breath of the Wild a Switch port, but the main version, in the same vein that Twilight Princess main version was the Wii one, because the one that ended up being heavily pushed, designed and marketed (to the point that some people even wondered if WiiU's version was ditched altogether) was Switch's.

I mean, I dislike Mario Kart and can't really care about Shovel Knight, but Breath of the Wild is a Switch game alright.

I would call it multiplat, like Persona 5. Port in my book is an afterthought, something added later on after release.

People are really reaching here. Shovel Knight is suddenly an important game. Mario Kart WiiU is also a masterpiece now. Are people really re-buying a kart racer?

People were rebuying Tomb Raider, GTAV and TLOU. So it's only the nature of humans.

Lol! Tomb Raider was the reason I bought a PS4 and I already had it on Xbox!

As a matter if fact, I bought every game you listed on 7th and 8th gen hardware. 😢

To be fair, Switch has incomparible less releases in 2017. than PS4 has, and yet 3 from top 5 are games for Switch.

To be fair, Nintendo consoles always have comparibly less releases than a Playstation. If you broaden the spectrum even at the end of the year, I'm pretty sure PS4 will have more of them in the top 10, 15 or 20, based on how 2017 has started off with several highly rated releases already.
But yes, I agree it's still not a fair comparison at this point.

Offcourse, PS4 will always have more releses than any other platform, PS4 in 2017. almost double more releses than XB1. But point I want to make here is that Switch is just released, so it's only 1.5 months on market in 2017, while PS4 is of course 4.5 months on market in 2017, and offcourse fact that buy time consoles have more support and releses than they have on launch.

Well, that means you'll rebuy Mario Kart and Shovel Knight. Profit for Nintendo.

It's a good start indeed for both consoles.

Anyway, when I look at the charts I'm not mainly thinking about Nintendo vs Playstation. I'm wondering if Microsoft will respond to this. They're really falling behind.

Point of this thread wasnt Nintendo vs PS, but how actually Switch has good start with quality games. MS with Xbox really lag behinds PS and Nintendo, especially when more and more Xbox exclusives becoming availible on PC also.
