Sticking with anything 'forever' is most likely bad for business, so no.

Forever!? :D
I can see they using hybrid concept around 2 gens, but hardly any one could predict what will happen in 10-20 years.

Nintendo already tried to stick with the Wii concept with the Wii U. And we all know how it ended. This would be the same.

Btw it's way too early to make these threads. We still don't know if the Switch concept will be a success.

Too early to say. Best wait to see how well the switch does.

Hell yes! Technology is only going to get better. I mean, if you can make your console do both (portable and home), then why just stick to one? I wouldn't be surprised if MS and Sony implemented similar features in their future consoles.

Also, they should stick with cartridges too, so future systems can play Switch games.

Seems to be working for Sony and MS.

Well I mean "forever" is long time. For the forseeable future though? Sure yeah.

It basically plays to Nintendo's strengths which is portability, but brings their home console experiences (which are usually their best games) to that.

For sure. If they make a handheld only and console only form as well (but you know, cheaper), it would be great.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Form factor, no. Unified library yes.

The other thing too is the hardware roadmap is basically already prebuilt for Nintendo.

Nvidia has the Tegra X2 already, and Tegra X3 (Volta-based Xavier) is deep into development. So basically the future chips are already either available or will be done by the end of this year. When they said they see it as a 20 year partnership or whatever you can at least see what they meant at the beginning of it.

Everything is just laid out for Nintendo will this hardware line.

Past 10 years though ... I think streaming services will replace physical hardware especially as Fiber Optic internet spreads.
