The biggest advantage of Sony going third party would be  that all of the third party exclusives they're holding hostage right now could be made available on more systems.

Indeed.

True, and soo is with Nintendo and Microsoft.
In a perfect world we would have 1 unified console and pc.

In a perfect world we won't have borders or countries.
Noo rich and poor and noo wars.
Noo racisme and noo hate.

But we don't live in a perfect world far from it.

Soo noo won't happen.

Great idea, get on it.

How is zero options for the consumer "a perfect world"?  One unified console means no experimentation, no choice of different experiences.  Taking away the freedom of choice from the consumer has never resulted in a more "perfect world".

That's pretty much semantics. PS is the pillar of the company at the moment. It won't always be more profitable than their financial services division, but it's the global face of the company.

'Global Face Of The Company' (which I think is a bit of hyperbole, anyway) doesn't mean they're only existing because of it. It's not about semantics, rather, common sense. If the other divisions rake in more money, then PlayStation can't be the only reason they're afloat.

Is it though? Two of the most profitable divisions are Games and Network Services and their Financial Services groups. The latter is not a global team. So, by near default the most successful and impactful department for Sony is Games and Network Services. It's carrying the torch for the company while they continue to tweak and redo the others.

That's not to say that with games, Sony would be gone, but they'd be far less influential in the global tech market.
