I grew up with the scholastic scale, where 7/10 is par. I'm fine with using that for games, but 5 as an average is fine too. I might give a 6/10 or 4/10 a chance if I'm interested, respectively.

I actually find the four star scale the easiest to rate for, though.

... I just couldn't resist! Truth be told I've never actually played the game, lol.

Same, and I'm never going to because of him

A 7 or a 7.5 is an average review score. I don't know why reviewers don't follow the same metric and sometimes argue that a 5/10 is an average score.

Different mediums have different "breaking points" for what divides an above average thing from a below average thing. For movies, it's 60% (see Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic). In academia, it's a B- (no one grades around a C). In videogames it's either a 70 or a 75. People just need to be consistent and stop trying to actively deflate scores for no reason.

For me it actually varies by who is grading.

Some are easier on games and so an ~7.5 is average. Others tend to grade certain games more harshly (when gamespot gives Nintendo a good grade I know it's good for instance lol).

Then there's some I like to watch like ProJared, Angry Joe and such, and there an 8/10 is actually a really good game because average is closer to 60.

7/10, 70, maybe even 75.

You can argue all you want that 50 should be it or whatever, but it's been that way in the gaming biz for ages, and I've been reading game magazines like EGM since like 1989. Below 7/10 if pretty much the equivalent of a failing grade for a video game.

ConsiderING every decent game gets at least an 7.5-8 in the game industrie I would say a 7.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Anything below a 7, I don't really consider playing unless it's from a favortired franchise, but a 6 is average to me.

5 to 6 is average. Below that are bad, boring and broken games.

For me personally, an average score is 5, but with professional reviews in general it's pretty much a case by case basis. Some sites use the entire scale with 5 being the average score, while in other cases it can be either a 6 or a 7. f I would give a game a 7, that would mean it's a good game with some flaws, but still an enjoyable experience overall.
