I'm on a 1080P set. IQ is noticeably cleaner on games that downsample, such as the division. You literally can't see jaggies. Bear in mind that there aren't special or additional effects added to games using Boost mode (which is awesome btw and game changing for certain titles). I also like that you can stream in 1080P on twitch, and probably my favorite Pro feature is allowing your DS4 to connect directly through USB to the system. For twitch shooters or competitive gaming, this is a very big feature. No controller latency, period. Can't really offer advice for 4K tv owners though /: I hear HDR is more game changing than 4K and the base Ps4 does HDR. Considering the vast majority of AAA games already run at a stable 30/60fps, there's not much gain here either. At least, I never noticed dropped frames on my OG PS4, and still don't notice any on my Pro. If you're a streamer or into competitive online, the Pro offers features that are crucial imo. We won't see massive disparity between Og and Pro until Scorpio drops, I think though. But again, I say this as a 1080 user.

So, you're underwhelmed by one, if not thee, most impressive graphical games of this gen, including PC? O ... K. Buy a Scorpio.

The PS5 Exists.

After meaning to buy one at launch, I put off the purchase repeatedly due to general chaos, but it's been near the forefront of my thoughts recently. Def gonna get one, just not sure if I should wait for a price drop or not. I think your guys answers have push me towards getting it ASAP.

I upgradef to the Pro about 4 weeks ago. Playing on a 1080p screen and in all honesty, I can barely see a difference. Sure, there are some parts in certain games where the PS4 Pro runs ever so slightly better. But you won't notice it during gameplay. Then there's supersampling. Horizon does that. I don't see any difference at all. Even when I'm just standing still and focusing on it, I can't tell the difference. Doesn't matter at all during gameplay.

Main reason I got the Pro is Remote Play. When the TV is occuppied, I can now play on my Laptop in 1080p, the old PS4 only did 720p. If you also use Remote Play a lot, the upgrade is definitely worth it. If not, just hold on to your original PS4. You won't miss anything. I really would only recommend the Pro if you're buying new. But as an upgrade it's totally not worth it in my opinion.

Isn't there enough information out there to answer your question.

1. You'll get a sharper picture on 4K TVs.
2. 1080p TVs can also benefit from higher resolutions and less jaggies.
3. Some games will have improved graphics (albeit relatively minor).
4. Old games not designed for Pro can also run better.

These are essentially the only things you need to consider. Is that worth $399 to you? If a price cut happens this year it'll probably be $50.

Lastly, if you aren't very impressed with PS4 graphics, don't expect PS4 Pro to be a game changer.

I'm a PS4 Pro owner. In my opinion, the upgrade is not worth it *unless* PS4 is the only platform you care about. It definitely is better than the regular PS4. But, not enough to justify $400. If you already own a PS4, I think your money would be better spent buying a Switch or maybe a Scorpio, if you don't already have an XBONE.

If you sell or trade in your old PS4, you don't have to justify $400. That upgrade will only cost you $150 - $250.

My upgrade costs were around €140. Even without counting in the performance difference, it was totally worth just for a quieter console with fresh 2 year warranty and a higher resell value when the PS5 launches.

Ok. Let me be straight with you. And this is coming from arguably one of the biggest sony fans on this site.

4k is overrated.

You will see more of a visual difference from your 8-10ft viewing distance with a PS4+HDR tv in a game that supports HDR than you would see on a PS4pro+4k TV with a game that supports higher rez/4k but doesn't do HDR. That is just the God honest truth.

If you have a PS4 and a 4k tv then you are fine. If you ahve a PS4 = 4kHDR tv you are also fine. You do not need to or have to get a PS4pro.

If you sat 3-4ft from your display? then maybe 4k and a PS4pro would show you a tangible difference. Have you wondered why even in those comparison videos they usully have to zoom in on the image to show you how much better and sharper the pixels look? Thats because from a normal viewing distance and with normal human eyes theer isn't a night and day difference between 4k and 1080p. Yes, its sharper, and if you look for it you would see the difference but its not difference enough to make a truly meaningful impact in how you experince the game.

Thats what HDR does though.

People will tell you different and swear on their children how much better 4k is...... so take what I have said as you wish; but I stand by this. HDR is more relevant than 4k. And you will notice it significantly more.

As for everything else, the PS4pro does offer you an all round better performing game. So if better framerates here and there and better effects here and theer is your thing then go for it.

Mind you, I have a Ps4pro.

This.  I share the same opinion after playing ps4 pro games on a regular 4k tv with no HDR before upgrading.  Now I am playing on a 60ks8000.   HDR is what really makes horizon looks beatiful.

I have both the PS4 and the PS4 Pro... I don't think most people would want or need both.

Its important to remember that this will not cost you $400 if you sell your old PS4 after transferring over the data. I mean I got $250 for mine so $150 in the end was the cost

True, same thing happened with me. Though I got $200 for mine.... or was it $250. Can't rememeber. I sold my PS4 about a few days before the PS4pro reveal.

But this is something taht usully gets ignored. I am not outright saying anyone and everyone should buy a PS4pro if they already have a PS4. But it can't be ignored that you can sell off your PS4 and only need to make the difference to get a Pro. So at the end of the day you could be spending as little as $200 for your upgrade.
