And they have the right to! It already broke a couple records already. Its good that people are expecting Amazing stuff from this. If it delivers it delivers, if it doesnt it doesnt.

It sold 17m in 2010... Down from 27m! ( 11m in 2011 and 5m in 2012 year of replacement, 1.6m better than the peak year of wii u 2015 and about the same with the peak year of gc 2003 WOW )
Okay -10m, but such a sharp drop was inevitable with the previous overly irregular selling levels, you can't use the word dying for something that sold 17m...

People love to rewrite Wii's history.
On topic, I do believe this console has the Wii type aura around it. When Wii was happening, hardcore gamers could not explain why it was so successful. The console connected so well with so many people. I am watching Switch connect with so many people as well. It is selling games and moving units even at the 299 US price (which I thought would prevent the sales frenzy at launch much like 3DS) and that can only mean bigger things when the price eventually drops. I am not saying this because it is selling well today, I knew it had potential before it launched. The console has a legitimate shot at 100 million sales lifetime. I do not think it will get to DS levels unless in its third year they release Pokemon, Monster Hunter, and Animal Crossing but I do think there is a legit chance it is their second best selling console ever when all is said and done.

You can call it like ever you want, my point is same, look how 3DS performed last year compared to 2015. and how still performing currently in its 7. year on market. Or you can look how PS3/Xbox360 performed in 2011/2012/2013 yers compared to Wii.
I'd wait a little bit more, it reminds me of the "PS4 will sell more than PS2"

What records fid it break? Maybe Nintendo's own.
It didn't beat ps4's launch sales and i dont see it ever catching up to ps4.... Soo what significant records did it break?

Actually it break some PS4 records also, if I recall in Spain and France, and brake most Nintendo records (including Wii/DS) for fastest selling console at launch and for best selling launch game (Zelda BotW beat Mario 64).
