Forums - Gaming - Yooka Laylee Reviews - Meta: 67 [PS4], 73 [Xb1]

It is too early to tell if the game is really 'rubbish' or not. Let's wait for the Metacritic user score which is the only score that counts.

This seems to have less to do with the game being a kickstarter project and more with critics giving average scores for an average game.

In other words, this game might not have turned out to be a better game if the budget was bigger. I don't want to mention specific IPs, but many old platformers were overrated back when they were released, if they ever get sequels, they will get tarnished by the critics just Yooka Laylee

Has a kickstarter game ever been good?

pillars of eternity, Divinity Original Sin, Shantae half genie hero, thimbleweed park are some that i can think of right now.

Pillars of Eternity is made by a big developer and publisher though. Divinity only used kickstarter to secure actual development funding. That'll be like Shenmue 3.

I'm still planning to get it, but I expected more.

I think I will like this game more than Zelda BotW. If the game plays like it's predecessors, almost nothing can go wrong. I only hope that my Notebook is strong enough to run the game. Banjo-Kazooie (not Tooie) is one of my all time favorite games. As a teenager, my parents went on vacation and I was home alone with this game - fantastic memories.

Will buy it when it's cheaper then. :

Hyper Light Drifter, Faster Than Light (FTL), Shovel Knight, Superhot, Wasteland 2, Darkest Dungeon, Kentaky Route Zero, Banner Saga, etc

I'm not sure if that was directed at me (I assume it was since you quoted me) but I don't see how me loving Banjo is whining? Rare fans can't have opinions?

"Some people just seem to think BK is outdated, I think it's better than almost any game that released this gen. "

Liking BK is fine, but comments like that are asking for people to explain why BK kinda sucks even in its time.

Not really, based on reviews, people seem to think Banjo is outdated. That's all I was saying. Of course some people think the game sucked back then, no game is universally loved. In this case, one of the most common complaints is that it's outdated. For people like me, that's not a complaint to worry about.

From the picture I saw it looks interesting

From the pictures I saw, Devil May Cry 2 looked awesome.
When I got to play it I realized it sucked.

I never agree with reviews I don't trust the media ;)

But you trust pictures are enough to decide what score a game deserves?

Reviews are meant to give you an idea of what to expect. It's not until after you've tried the game yourself that you'll know if you agree with any particular review or not.

But saying a game deserves more based on pictures, or a trailer, is crazy

There were many games that were praised to the sky but after I played them they were awfull

I only say it looks beautiful that's all

If it deserves or not I give no sh#t about that's about all games not only this one

REQUIESCAT IN PACE

I Hate REMASTERS

I Hate PLAYSTATION PLUS

Any critic that says it feels too much like an N64 (outdated) game to be good, that's a stupid opinion and should be ignored.

Instead pay attention to critics who elaborate on what the game is doing poorly and where it falls flat. There are genuine complaints that would hurt any game.
