Forums - Sony - The Mummy 2017 is what the Uncharted Movie should be.

If I look half as good as Tom Cruise at 50, I'll be having sex then.

OT: Not sure about this movie, the "serious" tone seems out of plane, to me it seems almost like remaking the Terminator series into musicals. I'll give it a chance though, this looks like it could be a really big year for movies.

Around the Network

The trailer looks like shit and the movie will be trash... mark my words, it will be a disaster just like the Uncharted movie.

The "originals" would be the 1930s Mummy Universal films, lol.

The first Brendan Fraser Mummy was a surprisingly fun homage to the 30s Universal monster movies. Fraser and Weisz had good chemistry. The second was kinda crappy, the third was full on crap.

This is a complete reboot from that and a starring vehicle for Tom Cruise. It looks a lot more "serious", whether that approach will work who knows.

You mean one with Boris Karloff? I know I watched it as a kid, but I honestly don't remember it at all (I maybe remember Abbott and Costello's instalment at this point, but that's just maybe), so really can't tell if 1999 movie has any similarities with that one.

And yeah, that serious feel is really what rubs me the wrong way...not that Tom Cruise helps in any way either.

Doesn't look very good and I see Tom Cruise is still always staring at something like every film.

Looks like mindless fun just like uncharted. A video game movie is not going to be better than this, we should accept that fact and wish for something like this (at least)

I don't know if I'd called Uncharted "mindless fun." It certainly isn't a very cerebral or strategic game but it's a bit more involved. Light exploration, puzzle solving (although very light as of recent games), the story, the characters. Doom is more akin to mindless fun where the character not giving a shit about the story or instructions given by other characters. I agree though, Uncharted should be a relatively easy movie to make compared to the Last of Us or other video games. It's essentially already a "movie", a very cinematic, guided, and over the top experience.

The Uncharted movie should be a reboot with a lead actor who is way too old for the part?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
