| Soundwave said: The "originals" would be the 1930s Mummy Universal films, lol. The first Brendan Fraser Mummy was a surprisingly fun homage to the 30s Universal monster movies. Fraser and Weisz had good chemistry. The second was kinda crappy, the third was full on crap. This is a complete reboot from that and a starring vehicle for Tom Cruise. It looks a lot more "serious", whether that approach will work who knows. |
You mean one with Boris Karloff? I know I watched it as a kid, but I honestly don't remember it at all (I maybe remember Abbott and Costello's instalment at this point, but that's just maybe), so really can't tell if 1999 movie has any similarities with that one.
And yeah, that serious feel is really what rubs me the wrong way...not that Tom Cruise helps in any way either.
