They own Riot, creator of League of Legends

Googlestore sells games, this is about revenue made from games.
Tencent is like a chinese version of google, that also do games like League of Legends.
*edit:
kinda surprised to see Sony make like 4-5 times as much software revenue as Nintendo does.
But then again, 2016 was a reeeeeally slow year for the Wii U, and the 3DS is dieing down abit.
Hopefully this year with the switch things are better for them.

revenue = sales of software
Software only, eh?
In 2016, Sony had: Uncharted 4, Ratchet and Clank, The Last Guardian, MLB 2016: the Show, all of which did over 1 million at least. They also had all kinds of royalty checks and revenue coming in from sales of major 3rd party titles such as FIFA, GTA, and Call of Duty, I'd imagine.
Microsoft had: Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, Quantum Break, Dead Rising 4, 2 of them did over 2 million. They also had all kinds of royalties and revenue from sales of major 3rd party titles.
Nintendo had: Pokemon Sun/Moon, which had the greatest launch in Pokemon history (HUGE accomplishment since it's fucking Pokemon!), Fire Emblem Fates' western release, Super Mario Maker 3DS port, Kirby: Planet Robobot, Mario Party: Star Rush, Hyrule Warriors 3DS port, Star Fox Zero, and Paper Mario: Color Splash. They had little to no royalties whatsoever from major third parties. Or at least NOWHERE NEAR the level of Sony and Microsoft.
So my take aways from these are:
Sony is the #1 King of Consoles.
Microsoft is trying to get that crown from Sony's grasp but isn't gaining much traction.
Nintendo should be thanking their lucky stars that they have Pokemon.

Oh I see they minor in games, but they are huge in the technology department. This is odd you would think Apple would make the list then, they've developed games. |
Tencent is huge in Asia, they own League of Legends and Crossfire, a CSGO clone, which makes over a billion $ yearly
They actually own the 2 top biggest games on PC, which combined make nearly 3 billion $
Top Grossing PC Games by Revenue, 2015 (US millions)

Google doesn't make games. This list is about companies getting money from games, Google gets a 30% cut from mobile game sales on their app store. Just like Apple, MS and Sony on this list.

Well Sony probably made a fortune in licensing fees for their software (if that counts lol), that's where most of the money comes from for console manufacturers.
Even on a strong year for Nintendo Sony would be bringing in more revenue in software (at least since the height of the Wii died down), so it's not that surprising given 2016 is honestly the slowest year for Nintendo that I can recall... although if their mobile games count they did pretty well with Pokemon Go.
Tencent also owns Supercell (Clash of Clans, Hay Day, Boom Beach, Clash Royale).

They own certain companies like Riot Games (league of legends Devs) who essentially do Scrooge McDuck style money pool dives every year so I guess it makes sense they are at number 1. I guess I don't know if they technically own those companies or how it all works but that would be my guess.
