Bing has been around for a long time and has apparently become profitable. While still far behind Google in marketshare its doing pretty good.

MS's efforts in mobile devices didn't die with Zune, they moved to other things.

You gotta love the internet. MS is objectively offering something great to get some marketshare (competition), but guys like you look for a negative spin. Its expected, but still worth pointing out.

I have a Zune from back in the day which I use in my car, and I still think its 100x better than iPod. I haven't had a single problem with it in almost 10 years (while my iPod died after about three years) and the Zune software is millions of times better and less restrictive than iTunes. Its actually sad that they stepped out of the race so soon when they had a clearly superior product.

You generally have an anti MS sentiment and it holds firm in this thread. Here's the thing... Google and Bing are virtually the same to me. I really don't see much if any differences, atleast for what I use them for.

So if one is going to encourage me to use their service with free stuff... well its a no brainer. I've collected hundreds of dollars in Xbox credit over the years thanks to Bing. While Google has given me dick. Seriously, this shouldn't even be a discussion.

That sucks, I didn't realize it was US only.

If they haven't expanded yet its hard to imagine that's in the cards.

I have a Windows phone I bought for like $40 just to see how they work. Frankly, its a really good phone for the price and performs better than any Android phone with similar specs. The only reason I can't use it over Android is the marketplace sucks in comparison.

If Windows phones had app support at par with Android though, I would switch. I feel like that's the primary reason Windows phone didn't do well.

People focus on the failures without acknowledge they were actually solid products.
