Forums - Nintendo - Did Gamespot Just Leak Dark Souls III Gameplay Running On The Switch?

Would be good if Nintendo got the support but Dark Souls (to me at least) is a game you need to immerse yourself in to really enjoy. Not sure if playing on the go will give you that.

Then play at home?It really just depends on how you want to play it

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Have anything like this happened before?

It would certainly be cool to have Dark Souls on the go, even if the smaller buttons and and screen might make for a slightly tougher experience. Dark Souls 1 would specifically benefit from the port, as it would likely run a little better than the other console versions. I'm surprised it never got the port treatment 2 did, such a shame.

Unfortunately that can't really be said of 2 and especially 3. The Switch version of 3 would either be the worst performing or the worst looking version of the game, possibly both, and it would be up to personal tolerance to dictate if portability is worth the downgrade.

Considering 65 million 3DS owners find playing games at 240p portably on a small screen 'toleratable' enough to spend money and enjoy the game play experiences they recieve running said device, I'm sure there are people out there that would still play the game and enjoy it on a handheld device even if it means it runs at 720p and has less detail.

If your going to buy it on the Switch to play only the TV most people are probably not going to so, but I can see the appeal if it means getting to play a portable version of the game, that's going to be feature that will sell the game to people on Switch over another platform which lacks this capability.

I'm sure plenty of N-fans would be happy to look past any limitations on Switch. But to be fair, 3DS games were, with very few exceptions, designed with that hardware's limitations in mind, so they rarely mattered on a technical level. Dark Souls 3 is a very precise experience, and trying to squeeze it down on weaker hardware could have significant effects on how it plays, but maybe they'll pull it off!

Interesting news.
My big question is why did they record the gameplay on the Switch, if there is a Switch version of Dark Souls 3, it's most likely going to be inferior to the PS4/Xbox One/PC versions.

There has been a rumor since last fall that DS 1-3 is running on Switch. This adds to that rumor.

No way GS got a copy/code of a Switch version before it even being released without it being leaked. Unfortunately it has to be a typo but there's still hope

We also had that one tweet where DS twitter was praising Nintendo a bit ago.

Hmm, idk. First it was like, aww the twitters are playing nice with each other. Now I am thinking maybe there is something in the works.

Praise the sun! At least the Darks Souls devs are honest enough to accept the Soulsborne games took a lot of inspiration from Nintendo games. Something that a certain fanbase have a hard time accepting. Im totally saving this link.  Now if they kindly admit Castevania was also a mayor inspiration I'll be a very happy ^.^

It just doesn't make sense. Why would GameStop not only have a copy of DSIII on Switch, but also be recording DLC footage from it, if it hasn't even been announced (not the DLC, the Switch version)?

It's too good to be true.

Edit: Like, it would be the worst looking version of the game, why record off of it?

Gamespot.

Everyone makes mistakes, you re still cool!

If I had to guess, they accidentally used an old overlay that was used when they were last editing Switch gameplay. Not going to get my hopes up.

It's probably my favorite game of all time, gameplay has never been better on the souls franchise.

I hope it's true, even after 400 hours i still play this game every now and then, portable online co-op would be perfect lol.

But fps could be a deal breaker, it runs great on PS4 so here's hoping they sacrifice resolution and textures enough, Dragon Quest Heroes performance is a no-no.
