"The more power to you" is reserved for you, because you hold the unreasonable point of view here.

If the criteria to be a hybrid/home console is to have a dock/cradle that just allows you to quickly and easily connect to the TV, then the PSP should count.  If not, then you guys are using some mental gymnastics to make it seem any different.

Though, I may have to take off the Vita, as I'm not 100% sure it's cradle worked that way.

No.  The cradle was only for... cradling purposes while recharging the handheld.  You do have its sister version called the "PSTV," but that's a different issue.

I fail to see what this discussion about the categorization of the Switch has to do with February's NPD information. Get back on topic please.

Nailed it.

The mental gymnastics on display here made the thread far more entertaining than most NPD threads.

PSP is a home console like the Switch. Good lord.

who said that? that can't be real

Could make a thread about the recent ZhugeEX/NPD tweets regarding Switch instead of carrying on in a thread about February's numbers. I don't have to leak anything I just have to keep the thread on topic.

Just adding onto this warning for any future discussion in NPD threads on this subject, an employee from NPD Group themselves states that Switch is a current gen console, it is not a handheld and it goes into the same category as Xbox One and PS4, frankly people's opinion on the categorization of Switch is irrelevant and just drives the thread off-topic, the thread is about NPD and NPD themselves call it a console in the same category as XB1/PS4

Now you can argue what you think Switch is in threads outside of this but as this is an NPD thread and NPD themselves make it clear what it is then it's not up for debate in these threads.

And I'll have no problem with it either but it doesn't change the fact that PS4/xb1 will be competing for the #1 dedicated home console.  Switch bring the #1 hybrid won't take away from that achievement and if ps4 can make it 3/3 against xbox we will have cause to celebrate.

X1 won the "NPD #1" numerous times but if you look at the bigger picture, the xbox brand as a whole has been doing terribly. The monthly NPD #1 trophy is hardly an indicative of any brand's success, so I am not sure why you are already guarding the PS4 with needless labels & categories. PS4 achievements speak for themselves... so what's the point of all of this?

It just seems to me that you are already setting up a bait to rile up Nintendo fans in future NPD threads.

When handhelds were winning I also said ps4 the #1 home console.  Now that we have a hybrid why would I change my stance?

Edit: just seen ravens warning.

BTW Ryuu why are genuine and valid opinions being censured just because NPD says something? The thing is clearly a hybrid and not a traditional home console.  ever think NPD don't want the hassle of creating a third category for Switch on its own?

Is this what Vgchartz is becoming?  People's opinions censured? I don't know where to continue this debate because this is February NPD as raven said.  You can post on my wall or we can continue this next month when Switch is in their next report.

No numbers yet?

Your opinion isn't censored.  If you want to discuss whether the Switch is a traditional home console we can do that somewhere else.  This thread will be for discussing NPD numbers and they're going to compare them together, so for this thread let's just talk about NPD.
