Forums - Gaming - Five reasons why Nintendo Switch needs to have an achievement system

I really don't care about achievements. But it's not like they bother me, if there would be achievements I wouldn't mind.

I used to find gamerscore amuzing, but I really care nothing for achievements at all these days. A game must be fun in itself, achieving is something in game, not something you need to get a sticker for. Practically no-one really shows off their achievements anymore and I doubt many people even care.

Point #1 is the main reason I care at all about cheevos. Tried it with Bioshock Infinite and am never going back to ignoring them. Some lists are lame, but others include 'stunts' and 'use all these weapons you normally wouldn't look twice at' types that enrich the experience.

My Achievement and Trophy addiction says....

That being said... I agree. Games will sell more and I think it needs to be part of the My Nintedo coin system. Where your achievements have value and you can get things... maybe even DLC and value towards games. That will really sell a lot of games. Many people will buy significantly more games if they see some monetary value, no matter how little out of it. The point system should be shown off as a permanent number that publically displayed, but it's currency is private so people can spend it. I would like a leveling system kind of like Nintendo's old forums where your levels are ranks. Everyone starts as a freaking Goomba xD

They should add them. But only for paid subscribers.

I find Nintendo games to have more replayability than most games, so achievements are not a big deal imo. Wouldn't mind them though.

I do not agree. Achievements often do not feel like they are part of the game, spam the player with messages and waste development time that is better spent on the game itself.

And Developers are free to implement achievements any time. The Xenoblade games already feature achievements and force annoyed players to disable the constant distracting messages they generate. A good game has achievement like-features naturally integrated without calling it achievements.

I dont care about achievements... I actually got a life outside in the world to live aswell.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

"1. Achievements add value to games and make you play games in ways that you couldn't have imagined otherwise " that absolutely nails it.]

While I loathe to take Rolstoppable or their threads seriously - this is a good thread. And that is a perfect point.

It gives you a reward to going after or doing things you wouldn't otherwise do. I really enjoyed platinuming KH 1.5. Although I gave up 2.5. Just sooo much new content and it is quite repetitive.

Yeah sure- really fun to platinuming kh 1, i finished the game at 100% on hard, but still had to finish it on easy and normal for platinum.

No thanks, waste of time.
