Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Switch Will Not Support a Web Browser at launch

While this is no means a deal breaker for the system, it does seems pretty bad that something as basic as a web browser is missing at launch. How did they even manage to do that..?

I don't use a console web-browser because I have my PC plugged into my TV and watch port like that.

This has also been asked many times on neogaf. Without web browser, how is switch gon handle public wifi? Browser is kinda needed to login and access internet connection on public wifi.

It's not just public wifi though. If I was still on campus, I wouldn't have been able to play online on the Switch. On the PS3 I browsed to the web page and logged in there. Forget about playing in an airport or hotel as well.

Maybe nintendo thought every mobile phone nowadays has tethering feature and everyone should just connect Nswitch to their handphone instead. Lel

The more i read abt NSwitch, the more i feel like this device is being rushed by nintendo

Without reading the rest of the thread, there is one place where not having a web browser could be pretty bad...

Idk about where you guys live but where I live, the library/uni (and a few other public places) I went to required me to go to their website and accept the terms before they gave me internet access... Without a web browser, I can't do that...

LOL, only nintendo.

Sadly mines is exactly the other way around, my uni/library wifi lets us sign in once you connect to the wifi, no need for us to another website. But the internet at my appartment, where I will probably play games online has to have the browser... Seriously Nintendo better have some work around for this.

You posted this thread. You even highlighted that Switch won't have a browser at launch.

Given what the response in the interview was, why would you conclude that Switch will never have a browser? The words "at least not at launch" leave the possibility open that a browser could come later on.

And in the meantime he won't be able to use multiplayer or download games from the eshop. Though I guess there is a workaround. I remember when I studied in Japan I had to go to a house near the campus which had unprotected wifi in order to use skype and call my parents since there was no internet in the dorms. It was an intersting experience during the rain season. I guess he could the same.

Wanna know how often I use the web browser on the 3DS? Fucking never. Why would I start with the Switch now? Wii U though, you can watch 1 porn on the TV while browsing for the next one, now that, was worth using.

Nintendo got tired of showing up on Youporn's "which console watches the most porn" surveys. That's not good for Nintendo family friendly image.

Seriously guys what's the big deal? The vast majority of launch buyers/ enthusiasts will only be interested in the gaming side of things and the actual product and its functionality. Everyone now days has a tablet or smartphone to browse on if they wish.  Having said that I'm sure there will be an online capabilty with app store etc.
