Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I predict switch will sell worse than wii u!

Again with the Nintendo thread... it's a hybrid, it shouldn't fail cause 3DS fans will easily fall in love with the switch but then again all the Wii user base were no where to be found when the Wii U launched, I think it's gonna do just fine and won't be as bad as Wii U

Bullshit OP. Switch is the only handheld with reasonable power + normal architecture.

Problem here is the battery life.  2-5 hours which probably means 3 hours of typical usage is not enough to make it through the day.

Play it for three hours in the morning, put it on charge and do something else, then play another 3 hours in the evening, problem solved. :P

It should be remembered that 3DS couldn't sell well at $250. Switch is $300.

It's perfectly possible. The thing is, despite what people think, Nintendo can't support an HD console by themselves. They need third party support.

So, the switch will obviously experience draughts, just like every Nintendo system after the Snes. Even the sucessful Wii lost much of its support on its last years cause third parties jumped ship.
The underpowered home console gig just doesn't fly with developers and publishers. The Nintendo console for Nintendo games only works for fans. So, it's perfectly possible. Especially if you add the unsatisfied Wii U owners.

It's first year is already looking a bit sparse; as far as major new games, the only ones it seems to have so far are Zelda, ARMS, Splatoon 2, Fire Emblem Warriors, Mario Odyssey, and the extremely-likely-to-be-pushed-back-to-2018 Xenoblade 2. That's 6 big games for 2017, which is around par with Wii U's better years.

didn't & couldn't are two different things.

3DS didn't sell well at $250 when it had shitty software output, a lame special feature & terrible marketing.

It's unknown whether or not 3DS could have sold well at $250 if it had solid marketing/features/software.

I feel pretty confident that people will think the hybrid concept is far more attractive than glassless 3D, so far the marketing has been great and the software lineup is far better than the lineup 3DS had pre-price cut so 3DS doing poorly at $250 does not mean Switch will do poorly at $300.

3DS sales surged by 260% when it cut its price, clearly a lot of people wanted it but did not want to part with $250 for a portable.

It will sell about 3DS numbers or more

Wow man, you are really getting bad at your rebuttals.

PS2 & XB each had a 150-200% increase in May 2002 when the prices went from $300 to $200.

PS3 & Wii each had roughly a 100% increase in September 2009 when they went from $400 to $300 & $250 to $200.

Hardware going up when a price cut occurs is nothing new and nobody would every say PS2 or Wii were percieved as too expensive by the mass market prior to their price cuts yet they still saw really large boosts.

Like I said, its possible that with better features/marketing/software that 3DS could have sold well at $250 and 3DS doing poorly at $250 means absolutely nothing when it comes to how well Switch sells at $300.

PS2 and Wii were already at mass market price for what they offered, Switch isn't. It's asking the same price as it competitors while offering vastly fewer games, worse tech, and less features.

Than why did they see such large increases in sales when their prices dropped? You just contradicted yourself.

Like I said, your rebuttals are getting pretty bad. This is the second post in a row where you ignored the main part of my argument which is that 3DS & Switch have a night & day difference when it comes to features, marketing & software so 3DS being considered too expensive at $250 means absolutely nothing.

Well said, zorg.

If systems are compared with each other, the entirety of the surrounding circumstances must be taken into account, not just the ones that fit the desired argument.

Thanks!!!

Yep, the concept of a hybrid device is far more compelling than glassless 3D, the marketing for Switch has been leaps & bounds better than 3DS & Switch has a much better 1st party software output for the first 5-6 months.

3DS-Nintendogs & Pilotwings in March, Ocarina of Time 3D in June

Switch-Breath of the Wild & 1-2 Switch in March, Mario Kart in April, ARMS in Spring & Splatoon in Summer.
