Forums - Gaming - Your false assumptions will get you nowhere

Perception is reality.

That is in part why Sony's Playstation 4 is strong.
Its a good mix of hardware for what you pay for.

1.84 tflops for 250$ (ps4)
vs
0.40 tflops for 299$ (switch docked 400gflops (rumor))

PS4 has a bigger library and 3rd party support from AAA games, that the switch wont get.
Switch has Nintendo 1st party games... Sony has its own 1st party games.

Its just a matter of perception.

If Nintendo had launched the Switch (as is) for 199$, with a few more games at launch, everyone would be talking about how they where expecting it to sell 100million units or something.

They didnt, they launched it at 299$.
They messed up the PR for the presentation (alot of people had less expectations after watching it than before).
The Online paid subcription BS (requireing a smart phone, a paid app, and 1 nes/snes game pr month).

Nintendo could have done a better launch for the switch tbh.
Its probably also priced higher than nintendo needed.
People notice.

There is nothing wrong with the level of your english mastery. The thing is Neodegenarte IMO stated it pretty clearly why most of us wont agree with your sentiments and Jpcc86 summarized it clearly why he (and the industry in general) thinks the WiiU is a failed system.

On my part I do understand where you are comming from (comparing the NS with the PS4/Xone is a pretty standard apples and oranges comparison), but in all honesty I still think that Nintendo currently is still the underdog, and thus far the NS did not impress me as much as I would have liked it (mind you, I am a huge fan of the 3DS, and Nintendo IP's in general). They still have a serious uphill battle when it comes to get the masses on their side. The hype is not dead, by no means, but to trully break out they need to do better (address the software drought that is already palpable, clear up the payed online services they want to offer and get more 3rd party developers from the west on their side).

I was making fun of you for depending on generic labels like "hardcore".  It means next to nothing.  You're just creating a false dichotomy.  The gaming world isn't divided up into two sides, not even on these forums.

This one is going to end well.

People are saying "people" instead of "I" because there is historical reference that shows that the majority of the world in each gen, with a few exceptions of course, gravitate toward the more capable and mainstream products. So far for many the Switch has been underwhelming, just like the Wii U was. Thus, looking at how the Wii U did, we are able to project how we feel the Switch will do; especially in markets outside of Japan where the handheld piece isn't a major selling point.

Just for the fact that are excepetions, this "felling" all falls apart. You can't predict the switch fortune just by looking for the wii u, since people in this site can't even make a proper list of the reasons why the wii u failed.

I think Switch will be fine but if you don't want to sound like a gamer in a 'hardcore' bubble you going to need to put yourself across a lot better rather than attacking everybody. People aren't going to take you serious.

You can start by listing why Wii U failed yourself and explain what Switch does to correct its failings.

Bravo.. This guy gets it.

No disrespect to any that fit this category.. But the hardcore forum dwelling gamer simply is not in touch with the majority of the gaming community, let alone the masses at large. In fact it anything, the majority view on gaming forums tends to represent the opposite of reality.. I was there well before the Wii phenomenon, posting here and other boards. Most "hardcore" despised it and were 100% convinced it would sell like 10 million and lead to Nintendo going third party. When it sold over 100 mill, they scrambled to save face by chalking it up to idiotic "casuals," so you know - it doesn't really count. When Switch is a similar success, they will attempt to deflect their miscalculations and undermine Nintendo in a different way - since they can't really use the casual argument anymore looking judging from the lineup..

1. Full of wrong assumptions that Nintendo failed with wii u and will fail with switch because "shitty graphics".

2. You don't make any sense complaining why a tiny portable device can't match the graphic perfomance of a huge brick console.

3. Can't even start when you say that switch will only sell for nintendo fans yet only include the Wii U audience, like wtf happened with the ones that bought the 3ds? "they gone mobile" because you say so.

4. Talking about the games, saying that no one will fall for this because the games are already available for the wii u. But you said before that only wii u owners will buy this?! C'mon people use fuckin logic.

5. "People will prefer PS4/X1 because of the value". Try next time change "people" for "I", because your perception of value isn't the metric of what will become a success or not.

1. Why is it wrong? You have an assumption too, and you definitely haven't given a better reason why your assumption is correct but those of others are incorrect. I'm not saying you're wrong, but if you want to make good posts, you'll have to try harder.

2. Of course it makes sense! If something makes someone unhappy, that someone is allowed to complain about it. Whether it's a portable device or not is completely irrelevant when we're talking about people's wishes and desires. This is a ridiculous complaint from you.

3. Considering the difference between the sizes of the userbases of Wii U and 3DS, I'd say there's a huge difference between those userbases (stating the obvious here). I don't find it unreasonable to assume that most of 3DS owners aren't Nintendo fans.

4. Which people? Person A said that only Wii U owners are going to buy Switch and then person B said that no one's going to buy Switch because the games are already on Wii U, and you combined the statements of those two people into one? Besides, those two statements aren't mutually exclusive (unless you reads it literally): it could be that primarily Wii U owners are going to get a Switch, but a lot of Wii U owners could also choose to not get a Switch the games are already available on Wii U. I'm not saying how it's going to go, but that's one logical possibility (which I'm presenting here because you seemed to think people were being illogical).

5. Oh the irony... You've lumped all people together into one group and are then bashing them as you wish, yet you're the one telling them to speak for themselves instead of for the people. And oh the irony again: you've possibly taken their personal opinions as predictions of Switch's success.

And finally, oh the irony for blaming people not being able to make good threads/posts, then posting a bad thread yourself. Seriously, did you even try?
