Perception is reality.
That is in part why Sony's Playstation 4 is strong.
Its a good mix of hardware for what you pay for.
1.84 tflops for 250$ (ps4)
vs
0.40 tflops for 299$ (switch docked 400gflops (rumor))
PS4 has a bigger library and 3rd party support from AAA games, that the switch wont get.
Switch has Nintendo 1st party games... Sony has its own 1st party games.
Its just a matter of perception.
If Nintendo had launched the Switch (as is) for 199$, with a few more games at launch, everyone would be talking about how they where expecting it to sell 100million units or something.
They didnt, they launched it at 299$.
They messed up the PR for the presentation (alot of people had less expectations after watching it than before).
The Online paid subcription BS (requireing a smart phone, a paid app, and 1 nes/snes game pr month).
Nintendo could have done a better launch for the switch tbh.
Its probably also priced higher than nintendo needed.
People notice.
