Oh...so are these just more rumors?

Well it is the same website that did the rumors last month. The ones that just so coincidently lined up with the numbers that were just "thrown around" on the crapgamer podcast. Where someone says 100k.. and SURPRISE it was 100k. What a coincidence?

And let's not forget that NPD has been laying the smackdown on anyone who leaks their numbers, yet mysteriously this pro-MS/Xbox site can just publish articles about the numbers without so much as a takedown notice from NPD?  Sure.  Oh, and not a single other site puts enough credence in their numbers to write articles about them, either?  Again, sure.

What about Nintendo numbers? How well did the 3ds and Wii U do in, basically, there last year as Nintendo's flagship devices?

Another thing...MS was the one who felt the need to say that the PS4 was down YOY to try and save face. So, anyone want tell tell me why they wouldn't have also mentioned the PS4 only outsold them by less than 4%? Sounds like something MS PR would have loved to tout.

And the PS4 Slim was a good bit cheaper than Xbox One S - often by about $50.

Where?

IT was on amazon for a while. Uncharted bundle was 229 for a week or longer. Also sonys temporary cut to 249 lasted the whole month I know Microsofts only lasted till Christmas.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

So that part in their ad that says the 11th to 24th was not adhered to on the front or the back end?  Genuinely curious, as I wasn't shopping and didn't see any of these prices you people speak of this year.

Actually if I recall, someone free to correct me as my memory can fail. Sonys was from the 11-24. Then they extended it. Microsoft was from 11 or 12th-24th.  Also didn't Sony have a ff15 bundle in December.

So they're both down YoY, despite the new hardware. I wonder if this means this gen has peaked. This Holiday will be the big test.

No, I don't think this gen has paked yet. The software just wasnt there. Or at least not as much as it was in 2015. 2016 stands to be a lot better. I don't know about the XB1, but even it will still benefit from games like RDR2 or GTA6.

But the PS4, still is yet to release some of its biggest IPs for this gen. The last of Us 2,GoW and Gran Turismo.

All that aside, I feel this year will be the peak year for the PS4/XB1. Cause I see them hitting a $199 price point and still probably come with a game r two around the holiday season.

Maybe. I actually don't think that the drop from $250 to $200 will make much of a difference if the drop from $300 to $250 didn't. Historically, what are Playstation's biggest hardware movers? I know GTA has always been one, probably GT, but is GoW really all that big? Will TLOU2 do more for Playstation than Uncharted 4 did?

I guess M$ has Scorpio this year, but judging by PS4Pro's reception powerful hardware means nothing without the games to sell it with, and Sea of Thieves doesn't really scream "System Seller" to me.

The gap is narrowing, sure, but both systems are down a good bit overall from 2015. Assuming those 1M and 1.1M figures for November are as accurate as we're gonna get, the PS4 is down 12.3% YoY while the XBO is down 4.2%. Both systems were hurt by a relatively anemic November, which was responsible for most of their YoY losses.

The slim models (and the PS4 Pro) have had a smaller effect on sales than their counterparts from last generation did. I think this has a lot to do with just the overall sales pacing we've seen this generation, which is a lot faster than what we saw last generation. I think both the PS4 and XBO simply have less room to grow at this point in their lives than the PS3 and 360 did.

This isn't to take away from what the XBO has been able to accomplish since the "S" model was released. It has helped a fair amount, and has done more for the XBO than new models have done for the PS4. But the facts are what they are. The PS4 and XBO are at or getting close to their peaks, with the XBO having maybe a little more room for growth than the PS4. The XBO may have narrowed the gap, but it was still down 3 out of 4 quarters this year. Neither MS nor Sony really has any room to brag in regards to their performance in the U.S. market right now.

Since this is likely the best we're going to get data-wise, I'm going to go finish up my charts, post the basic ones in the NPD thread, and maybe make another thread going more in-depth on the state of the U.S. hardware market.

I think they both still have at least one year of growth in them. 2016 was nowhere near as good a software year as 2017 stands to be. Speaking for the PS4. this year we have destiny 2, GTs, RDR2, Horizon, ME:A, SW:BF, COD and a possible GoW and what is most likely to be a $200 price point. The PS4 stands to have its best year so far.

Yes, it was extended.  However, I don't recall the price rising for the XBO, or if it did, it was only briefly.  I think MS silently extended their price cut, as well.  And they both started on the 11th.

Isn't this the site with links to some of the biggest Xbox fanboys on the net? Or is that something else? Either way, the name says it all, and as I said elsewhere, it is very curious how all the other sources dried up and this biased Xbox site suddenly has a source all to itself.

I'll go out on a limb and say, with no other sources to call out their bullshit, that any time PS4 wins a month it's by a tiny amount, and any time Xbox wins a month it will be by a significant margin.
